Help i have phantom window opening
« on: 08 October 2012, 15:05:00 »

Wife's been out in town and came back to a screaming alarm and all windows open. Got home and she went in for 3 mins when see witnesses all the windows drop down and alarm goes off. What the  hell is going on  :(

Well lots narrowed itself down to the nsr window by itself now and an hour later the nsf on there own. Now I only have the one key so I know it's not someone playing silly buggers. Does anyone know if there is an ecu for the windows or is the alarm ecu in control

Dbug could very well be right but just on the off chance...  My wife's Citroen did similar a couple of years ago.  Coincided with bad weather (as usual).  The actual problem was that the casing for the electro key fob was damaged and water had got in and played havoc.  Dried out and taped up... no problem since.  Hope this is your problem because obviously its a quick and easy fix otherwise good luck.

Cheers,

Martin

Its a square (ish) black plastic item which lives under the drivers side windscreen scuttle panel. Its part of the alram system. It has its own inbuilt batteries and alarm horn so if your battery is disconnected your alarm can still sound.
When the batteries run low it starts misbehaving, often gives a few little faint cheeping sounds as you lock the car.
The next stage is that it sets fire to itself and your car with it.There have been quite a few known instances of Omegas being burnt to a crisp due to power sounder self igniting. Its only a ten minute job to remove it and smash it to bits with a hammer, which is exactly what most of us have done. :y
