I have a problem with my tractor. There is an alternator or electrical problem and I am in Germany trying to return to UK but do not want to pay Opel £ 1000 for the pleasure. The rev counter ceased to work and then the alternator light glowed dimly. I made it here and left the car overnight. In the morning the remote cental locking worked and all lights bright. The car has insufficient energy to start. I know that some diesels now havea solenoid in the fuel pump which shuts the fuel pump down if insufficient voltage. My question is, if I can get it running, will I be able to drive for a long while even though the battery is discharging and is there a solenoid in the fuel pump which will bring me to an abrupt halt. If I get it out of the underground car park I plan to check the earth leads etc. but any clues or thoughts appreciated. Only 700 miles to get home!
