Is it worth all this hassle? I don't think so but perhaps we have learnt a lesson :y

Using what Ron refers to as "the posh expensive ones" is no hassle whatsoever, and gives great "peace of mind", especially when the tin tent is on the back for 600 odd miles, as well as reminding you that winter pressures are markedly different to summer ones ....... I would certainly miss the system now  :)

If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it!  :(

80-100 from memory for the external type (internal are similar but there is a fitting cost)

Holy pointless tech batman, what's wrong with checking tyre pressures every so often?

For me, here's why - I have arthritic knees so I cannot kneel down for long and if I bend down, my back aches like mad.
Good enough reasons?  :y

Ron.

I'd say so, worth while then.  :)

But I'd be concerned they would be easily nicked, especially with some of the ridiculous prices they go for  :-\

If I was to invest for the 3.2, I'd go for ones inside the tyre, then no little git can nick them.

Inside the tyre? How?!!!
Would there be much point in stealing the transducers as they would be fairly useless on their own and the receiver would be inside the vehicle?

Ron.

P.S. Just been watching The last Night of the Proms; the worthy end to such a magnificent music festival - the best in the world!

It's been mentioned here, there is a fitting cost as the tyre needs to be removed. So the sensor sits inside the hub, similar wireless system based on pressure.

You can't apply logic to petty crime, bet you they would be nicked if left on 24/7 ;)

....  and just how do you check a caravan tyre whilst travelling at 60 mph ??

Whole purpose of these devices is to give dynamic warning in real time. They might be more than you think your car is worth, but they are substantially less than the total worth of my car + caravan, and infinitely less than my life is worth.

You may think they are "worthless tech", you are fully entitled to that opinion .. just as I think all deseasel engines in anything but boats, trains and trucks should be banned, as deaseasel is "worthless tech that kills" ...  :)
