Paypal - Confused?
« on: 01 August 2020, 16:55:27 »

I have multiple email accounts created over the years, but 2 main ones. Hotmail and Yahoo.

I have 2 paypal accounts, both created years ago, the 2nd one was created because of someone trying to full a fast one on a laptop sale ( the only sale I have ever done on Ebay/Paypal. :-X

Having a nosey through and clearing out emails as you do, I found multiple mesages regards my "new" paypal account.  So gone into the account via a fresh link all the details are correct etc.

Having had this account for years it has remained inactive for most of it.  My question is, do Paypal class this as a new account due to no acctivity, or am I being scammed.

Only one transaction showing for uner £1. :y

The £1 is a verification transaction.

It's probably treated as a 'new' account by virtue of not having been used yet.

You could always contact them ;)

I would save headbanging until afterwards though :D

Don't tell PayPal you have more than 1 personal account, the way it works with them is You're only supposed to have one for personal use and they will probably deactivate them if they find out.

The transaction was for something I paid for and not for varication. :y

As for 2 accounts, if they kept thier software upto date they would have sorted it at the start. ::)

On another note they ought to manage thier security better as the ammount of scam emails I get want to know my log in details shows they have staff copying name & adress details. :-X

No, thats far more likely to come from other data breaches.  And remember, you give your email and postal address to any seller. So you need to accept that your email address, name and postal address will never be private if you use the Internet, effectively they are public domain.

So you have to use proper, different passwords, and assume every email is phishing or spear phishing.
