« on: 13 March 2017, 15:01:47 »
Hi all...
My CD 2003 2.6 saloon has 16" wheels. Can I put 17" wheels on it. Or will other things have to be done to it.
Thanks. :y

Omega General Help / Brake pad shims
« on: 09 March 2017, 11:58:03 »
Hi...
I am renewing the brake pads all round and changing fluid.
Question is...the old rear pads have loose shims fitted, but the new pads (Pagid) have what looks like a steel shim fitted to the back of the brake pad already. Can I fit the pad as is, or will I still need to add the loose shim, which will obviously double the shim thickness. Or will this cause problems.
TIA, fellas. :y

General Discussion Area / Another fridge problem..
« on: 17 February 2017, 14:10:59 »
Hi all....
Our fridge has not stopped working...its working to well !!! Its just blown up 6 cans of coke , 4 bottles of beer, and a bottle of wine has turned into an ice cube. The explosion must have been immense, it blew the door open and blasted booze everywhere. The cans where blown apart, as were the bottles.
Tried altering the dial inside and its blown another couple of cans up.
Any ideas what's causing it ???

Omega General Help / Won't start !!!
« on: 10 February 2017, 13:46:48 »
2001 2.6 Elite Estate...

Been left a month and battery flat. Started it with a starter pack, took it out for a spin (couple of miles) Left it for a couple of days, tried to start it with pack, no joy. I have fully charged the battery, it turns over like the clappers, but does not start.
No codes showing. If I have flooded it, how long does it take to dry out, or do you think something else is amiss :(
Thanks in advance for any suggestions :y

Omega General Help / Auxillary belt
« on: 20 December 2016, 13:25:54 »
Hi all...
Simple question...how the heck do you get a new belt over the tensioner pulley. New belt has same numbers as old PK2020. I am using a long breaker bar, but I get the bar right over so it stops at the plastic thing attached to the side of the throttle body, and it still won't go on. Should it be this hard !!!! Do I have to take the throttle body off. Is there a sequence to fit the belt.
HELP....yes I am shouting :y ;D
Engine is 2.6

Omega General Help / Heater Matrix
« on: 18 December 2016, 14:13:06 »
After having thought I had sorted this problem a while back, the heater is now blowing very cool air from the passenger vents, and cold from the drivers side again. I have felt the two pipes on the engine side bulkhead to the matrix, the top one is boiling hot, the lower one just warm. I am guessing this is a blocked matrix, rather than air lock. So, I am going to flush the matrix, but is there some chemical that will 'dilute' any sludge in it, that could be poured down a pipe via a funnel, left to soak, then hosed out.
TIA

Tony

General Discussion Area / New Omega on the block...
« on: 11 December 2016, 12:42:01 »
Just got back from Dorset to find another Omega owner moved into the road. According to my neighbour, said owner saw mine and knocked on the door, saying he saw I had two. 'No' said the neighbour, 'When he is in, there will be three here' ;D
So had a wander up the road, and its an 03 saloon, but was partially hidden by the hedge that surrounds the garage area. So do not know which specific house it belongs to.
Must be an enthusiast to knock on my door. I shall get him into the fold, if not already in !!!! :y

Omega General Help / Tin worm attack
« on: 21 October 2016, 12:09:00 »
Arrrrrrrgh.....
Just found a couple of bubbles of tin worm. Its just above the sill, at the rear, just above the rubber strip that runs along the length of the sill. And just in front of that black strip that follows the shape of the wheel arch, that the door rubber sits against when shut. How is that rubber sill strip held on, is it easy to remove, and more importantly, is it easy to put back.
Or is it best left and try to work above it, but I don't want to leave any tin worm behind :y

General Discussion Area / Efficiency
« on: 17 October 2016, 12:12:28 »
Had a letter from SSE asking if we wanted a Smart Meter. Spoke to a friend who has one, and he thinks its great. So just phoned SSE.
After initial details, etc, etc, I was told the Calendar said Dec 19th was first available date for fitting. Ok said I, go for it. She then said she had to do various bits and pieces, and put me on hold. After about three minutes she came back, and said I will check the Calendar for a date !!!! ??? I said we have said a date. 'Oh yes' she said..'I'll check if the 20th is free'..Whaaaat.. I said we had agreed the nineteenth.  'Oh yes' was the response..'I'll just check the Calendar to see if it is free' Whaaat...I am hearing this.!!!!!! 'Err sorry sir, the Calendar keeps saying error, can I ring you back'. So she rings back....'First appointment is January 23rd, sir'. 'Not here' says I, 'whats next' 'The Calendar won't let me go further'. :(
Now the best bit.....(had told her in initial enquiry, that this November was no good.) 'Why don't you ring us when you get back in September !!!! Whaaaat :o  'Oh..September has gone, when will you be back??'
Good grief, I can't believe what I am listening to. 'I'll be back in December' I said. So she says, 'Ring back then, and more dates might be open'. I said..'Yeah...but more people will be after having these meters fitted and dates will be taken'. 'Hmmm, that's true' she conceded. So after she apologised, I said forget it and I would contact next year if I decided  to go ahead. >:(

The government want us to reduce our bills, but this is like banging your head against a brick wall :o

In the words of Jeannie C Riley, in the song 'Harper Valley PTA'......I wouldn't put you on, because it really did, it happened just this way. :y

General Discussion Area / My Daughter..update
« on: 16 October 2016, 20:24:29 »
Hi all...
You may remember a few weeks back I had a thread going about my daughter and a suspected illness called Labrynthitis. Originally admitted to the Horton (Banbury) then transferred to John Radcliffe (Oxford) for scans. Scans not done, no diagnosis given, and discharged home. She then spent weeks getting no better and being fobbed with all and sundry. She has since gone private, spoken to consultants, had all scans, etc. Also seen a Neurologist.
The diagnosis.....MS.
I could fill a page with her story of her treatment at JR. Absolutely despicable !!!!!!!! >:(
This is going to cost the private heath firm around £3000. But the way she was treated all through the procedures was second to none. At least we now know what is wrong and can now try to find a positive way forward.
I am not of the 'compensation' genre, but I think her treatment at JR needs looking into, and someone's arris given a big boot.

Omega General Help / Spanner light on
« on: 14 October 2016, 15:46:07 »
Hi all.
swmbo just came back and said the spanner light is on. I have done the pedal trick, and the following codes came up in this order...
1700
0500
0500

Car is a 03, 2.6 CD Saloon

First code is 'Service Vehicle Soon Request from Transmission Control Module'.......  second code is 'Vehicle speed sensor malfunction B-009'

Can someone point me in the direction of translating and how to repair.

Many thanks :y
