Both my Estates are due for Cambelts this year. Neither are anywhere near the mileage, but the 4 years are up. Is there anybody willing to come here and do both, Going rate paid, and food and drink supplied, even a bed if required.......or......if not too far away I could travel to you.
One is a 2.5, 2000 vintage, the other is a 2.6 2001 vintage.
My base is High Wycombe until September. :y

General Discussion Area / EU Campaign
« on: 15 June 2016, 23:27:37 »
Today I saw what I think to be the lowest of the low in campaigning. Whatever side of the argument you are on, it has to be accepted that 50% ish want in, and 50% ish want out. Irrespective of scaremongering, false claims, etc, etc, from both camps, I think what I saw from SIR Bob Geldof today was despicable. It takes campaigning to its lower level, when a SIR, reverts to obscene gestures, and foul mouthed remarks at people (fishermen) who, rightly or wrongly, believe the EU is to blame for the downslide of their industry. Even some of his own supporters are said to have bailed out over his actions.
This has given me another push into which way I will vote.....sod the country, but to kick his arse !!!!!!

Hi all, as per title, when we have damp weather, my drivers doors goes into the six pushes mode before the car locks, but the the drivers door still has to be locked with the key. However, when the sun comes out, it goes back to standard locking.
I can only assume damp is affecting something somewhere, but if it is getting wet, why does it not blow a fuse :o
Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
Could the motor be wrapped in duct tape to protect it ;)

Omega Gallery / Fit for a King !!

Washed, polished, Windscreen clayed, tyres blacked. All ready for the hols.....
Beautiful cars...Take the plates off, I defy anyone to name its age ;)
I will say, the headlight guards, if you can get them, keep the lights in tip top condition. AutoGlym Aqua Wax was used to polish. Makes the job easy. I bought the 5 litre can from the bay for £30. Massive saving :y

General Car Chat / Windscreen cleaner
« on: 08 May 2016, 10:34:57 »
Hi all...

Just tarting up the saloon for holiday, and I decided to clay the windscreen, as it felt as rough as a poachers dog !! After claying, I went on YouTube and watched a video on the subject.
Now, I was always taught not to wax a windscreen, but the bloke in the vid waxed his. It did look stunning when finished. He said you could use rainex, but he preferred wax and said it lasts about six months. Here is a link, and I would like your comments please....yes or no !!!!!

Omega General Help / Cam cover query
« on: 07 May 2016, 13:22:12 »
Hi all,
Just noticed that there is oil weep from some of the bolts that hold the cam covers on. I am going to clean the breathers again.
In your opinion fellas, is it worth checking the tightness of the bolts, or are they best left alone. I can't see any leaks at all from the covers anywhere else, and I don't want to start things leaking.
Opinions welcomed :y

General Discussion Area / Hopefully, now back to normality
« on: 06 May 2016, 23:53:19 »
Hi all,
Today, we hopefully called closure to our family problems, which started with the loss of my mum, then Christine's mum. I have to say, out of all the funerals I have been to, this topped the lot.
Our Crem, now does slide shows during the 'Reflection' period, and my daughter sorted all that. But it was great to have the music (Memory) played whilst the pics were shown.
Chris, unfortunately, but only to be expected, has taken this very very hard, losing her mum, hence having to cancel out meet, and she wants me to convey her deep heart felt thanks to all of you that she knows, and others who on the forum, have sent private messages, or cards, or otherwise, have sent their condolences.
I have cleared the flat, which is now a bare shell, and Chris can't go down there now. Call me a hard bastid, but I'm afraid, after losing my dad, aged 57, 35 years ago, has made me bitter and twisted, as far as religion is concerned. So these last four months have gone over my head, so to speak.
I did ask the funeral director today, if he did season tickets !!!!!!
Sorry to put up a morbid post, but it means closure to me. Life will now go on

General Discussion Area / I need answers..
« on: 04 May 2016, 15:02:53 »
After seeing an ad on the tele...I need a question answered.
If Dettol and Harpic, etc, kill 99% of household germs, are they all killing the same 99%. If not, why don't they pool their resources and and kill the last 1%.
And whilst I am at it.....if you pull the wings off a fly, is it then a walk, and....
Why don't cat food manufacturers make bird or mouse flavoured food.

Just asking, like :)

General Discussion Area / cancelling a BT account
« on: 29 April 2016, 12:06:29 »
Just cancelled a BT account. Not too happy with the initial reception, seemed a bit hostile.
I said 'I would like to close a BT account'. The reply was ..'And why would you want to close an account ?' said in a hostile tone.
I said....'Because the account holder is dead!!!!!!'.
There was a moments silence....Then....'Oh (pause).....I am sorry to hear that'.

I do think that they should show a little more compassion, as the number I rang was the one advertised on their bereavement section.
Pillocks >:(

General Car Chat / That's it for another year !
« on: 27 April 2016, 19:43:58 »
I can now finally unclench my buttocks for another year ;D
Omega number three has passed its MOT with flying colours. So, in the last month that's all three through, and no advisories on any of them. Result !!!!!! Even had a non Omega owner trying to get me to part with the 2.5 Estate. No chance !!!!!!
And some of the reasons for that success, and indeed, my being able to keep the cars in top condition, is down to the odd jobs that have been done for me by forum members, or selling me spare parts at favourable prices. My thanks to you all. :y

General Discussion Area / Pacemakers
« on: 18 April 2016, 22:14:16 »
A lot of you will have seen the posts regarding Wycombe and our situation.
However, you learn something everyday. We went into the Funeral directors, to book the funeral (which will be after the Wycombe meet, hence the cancelling) and were told mother in law would have to be buried !!!!!
'Why', we asked. 'Because she has a Pacemaker fitted'. 'What difference does that make', we asked. 'They blow up' was the answer !!!!!!!!!!
So, we have to get that removed first, as she wanted a cremation.
Looking on the brighter side, which you have to, when we got home, my son said, 'Can you imagine someone saying...where are your Nan's ashes scattered, to be answered with,  'Over most of Buckinghamshire, actually.'
Just struck us as funny ;D

PS....Chris says a massive thank you for all your kind remarks, fellas. Its most appreciated, and she says sorry she can't face a meeting.

Meetings, gatherings, parties etc / *Wycombe meet cancelled*
« on: 18 April 2016, 16:05:27 »
Unfortunately, due to the death of Christine's mother, I have to cancel the May Day meet this year. I hope you understand.
I hope those with reservations at the Premier Inn in Loudwater will be able to cancel without financial loss.
I will get a date for later in the year so we can hopefully have a meet.
I'll try to pm as many as possible who usually come to make sure there are no wasted journeys, if they don't acknowledge here.
Apologies....Tony and Chris :(
