Had the same problem last year.

Why do the manufacturers not make 'rat poison' more lethal. So lethal in fact that it drops the little bastard before the poison has even reached it's tiny belly.

This latest mouse( I think there is just one) has consumed roughly 3 times it's body weight in poison yet it is still coming back for more.

Commercial rat poison is piss weak.

I can see where the little turd has been gnawing at the wiring, and also sound-proofing material under the bonnet.

........not to mention the little turd leaving his 'little turds' all over the engine bay.

Possibly....but I would expect more black greasy turds.

Even so, The amount of poison that has been consumed should be enough to kill 100 large rats.....

there are rats that keep coming back for more bait/poison from my garden. I've put loads out over the past few years.
I'm pi55ing in the wind at stopping them completely because Mrs B puts loads of food out for the birds (& squirrels), a near neighbour keeps chickens & the rats also have access to an 'eat all you can buffet' in the form of our compost bins!

Anyway...I've also 'boxed off' a couple of traps. This mean there is only one way in if they want to get the peanut butter.

I hope to see a couple of dead rodents when I next lift the bonnet.

 Thanks Skruntie.....If I had more room the 'bucket catcher' works well......but sadly they are in the engine bay where space is tight.

The traditional English solution is a couple of Jack Russels roaming the property, although other terriers can be as good.

They are not hidden under the engine cover and a number of Youtube video show then living rent free in the air filter.

Modern car wiring has been hit by the greenies.

The adhesive in the cloth tape is now 'organic' so attracts the little buggers (and bigger ones) so the loom manufacturers have had to put chemical nasties in the glue to detract them......so probably not nearly as 'organic' as it was

Isn't it supposed to give them a rageing thirst, so they bugger off for a drink and die?  So the ones that scoff the poison probably are long dead.

I really don't think there is a tribe of the little bastards.......not enough greasy turds left behind.

I reckon it is one or two 'supermice' who are immune to the poison, just as French Albitz says.

I have the little shits in my house at this time of year when it gets cold. Well... Not in my house exactly, but they get into the void underneath and then make their way through the cavity insulation to the attic.  Judging by the amount of little holes in the loft insulation, there must be a tunnel system up there that would make a Hamas terrorist very jealous!   

Mostly I co-exist with them happily enough, but now and again when it sounds like a herd of elephants running around up there, I have a purge to keep the numbers down and put out the traps. It's amazing though how the little bastards can nick the bait off a trap! Cheese disappears without a trace and they must carefully lick the peanut butter off, so as not to get caught. 

I've recently caught loads though using nuts, which you can press onto the spike and they have to give it a good tug to get it off! I put their little corpses out onto the garden path, where they become a tasty snack for the crows and magpies. 

It's all gone quiet... For now!

That seems like a plan......a drop or two of cyanide on the nut or poison would probably also help.

Not sure how easy it is to get hold of though.

Might get me some of them.     Mine are old and I think the springs aren't what they used to be.   

I don't mind killing them, but I like to think the little buggers are being despatched instantaneously.

There's a house along my road that has had Christmas lights up for about three weeks already.
