Title: MOT Day for the old girl tomorrow - Fingers crossed
Post by: DrAndyB on 15 November 2015, 17:04:06
Its that time of year again  :o MOT  :o

Freshly washed / waxed and various bits fettled with wipe with an oily rag  :y

No advisories last time so fingers crossed.  Spotted a failed Side front side light so that's fixed  :y

Gonna need new exhaust soon, rear join to back box pipes between central and rear is a bit corroded, but not blowing so guess OK.  Its on its 2nd GM Exhaust in its lifetime  :y  Guess the next one is the bay of flea ETS Clamshell one (seems to be to be the one of choice  :) - May go for twin rear pipes.  Assume the 3.0ltr twin tail pipe back box fits no problem to the 2.5 single tail pipe one - both appear to have the same twin entry from the 2 x central sections)

Cheers  :)

Had her from 6 months old.  :y

60k on clock now  :D

She is part of the furniture now  8)

She does about 1k a year as I commute by bike.  Use her once a week to restock wardrobe at work ! (providing its not raining - not want to get the car wet now as she is kept in garage :D)

Also seen that motor on here before, OP, and I'm sure she'll be fine, stunning example, so nice to see a (shiny) PFL  :)

PS, Yes, 3.0 V6 exhaust backbox straight on, no issue. Mine's fitted with one  :)

You'll have seen my story elsewhere, I shan't bother reading it out again, but the summary is - get her insured to a true, high value, definitely  :y...  I ask you one question - if someone drove into you tomorrow, causing £1900 of repairs, and your insurance company offered you £590 for that car, would you be happy?

Really pleased that she's on the road for another year. Keep up the good work!  :)

:y Tesco Ultimatum the way to go if you're doing premium, independent test shown Tesco same as or sometimes a fraction better performance than equivalent superfuels from BP/Shell etc. But Tesco regularly at 180-110p, the 'brand name' stuff normally 120pplish.. Ran my old girl on Asdas finest watered down stuff with grit and was averaging 20.9, now (also admittedly after an oil change) up to 22-23mpg exclusively town driving.

Personally I feel worth the extra 4-5p/litre - works out at about 5% more mpg for about 5% extra £...or, to put it another way, I'm using good, clean fuel, which costs me no more to run per week vs using the cheapest supermarket stuff.  :)
