.... is looking a little crowded now I've got the new one home. :)
Looks like I'll have to sell one after Christmas! ;D
-
Oh, dea.. er.. cough.. I mean: Congratulations! ;D
Want me to bring my tools back to Bridport.. or the Tech2 even...? :D
-
Not tempting fate or anything but it seems good so far! :y
Thought I'd get something different to run around in while the BMW's ECU is away. ;)

Don't forget, with a magnet like that, you'll likely need "something for the weekend" too. ;)
-
That's it!!! 8)
The new owners have taken off the big black go faster stripe on the bonnet! :(
And it had a black 'pinstripe' down the sides as well. :-*

Well, sometimes all that unwanted attention can be intimidating, I'm sure. ;D

I rather enjoyed all the attention from lusty 18 year old girls back in the day, but I'm not sure I could keep up these days! :( ;D
Hence the new one is a bit more sedate than my Marina 1800TC Coupe! ;)
-
No woman could resist those Revolution wheels. 8) ;D

In my day a car, any car, would do the trick. I suppose that could have been down to me being irresistible......... :-\

You’re being rude, Robert.
But, yes............and being able to breathe through my ears. ;D

You need to remember that 'up north' where you come from cars were a luxury item only bought 'by them shandy drinking bed-wetting London types'. So scouse girls were easily impressed when you arrived in a stolen Austin 1100 held together by Isopon.
I hear rumours that some homes in the north now have running water, electricity, and in exceptional cases, an indoor crapper.
-
What have you got really though? :)
Which would you sell, the beemer or Ford?
-

Which would you sell, the beemer or Ford?
I'll sell the Mondeo, the Beemer is a keeper for a while and I'll see how I go with the new Ford type thing. ;)
The £500 odd VED and the 23 mpg might see that off before long as well! ;D

Poor Opti, being played at his own game.
At least another three pages yet, I think. ;D

Maybe I should give him a clue? :-\
-
Ford type thing? V8 S-Type?
-
Not bad Tunnie but not a V8 S-Type. :)
It's dark blue. :y
-
So, 23 MPG and "more sedate" than a Marina 1.8 TC.
Mercedes sub post office G-Wagen? ;D

If you’ve looked at a map recently you will see that we aren’t exactly southern!

G-Wagen...
If I was as cool as Uncle STEMO and my pockets as deep as Lord Opti that wouldn't be a bad guess Kevin! ;)

It's just that we had one at work once and it was sloooow and drank like george best... And sank to its axles as soon as to took it anywhere remotely off road. ;)

G-Wagens are a blatant German rip off of the Defender, but I bet there is one feature of the Defender that Mercedes couldn't bring themselves to copy..... ::)
The oil leak! ;D

You're basically just another part of London these days..

What about the rain coming in along with the draughts? ;D
This one seemed to get about off-road OK, though: https://www.autoblog.com/2014/10/16/german-man-drives-mercedes-g-wagen-on-557k-mile-26-year-road-tr/
(I don't know if the best thing or saddest thing about that story is him carrying on after his wife passed)

ST24 mondeo ??

950 Fiesta Popular Plus?

Yep, that's a spitting image of the shed we had. 557k miles, though? I shudder to think of his fuel bill. :o
-
ST24 mondeo ??
Nope! :)
950 Fiesta Popular Plus?
Do they still do those? :o
Anyway I gave it a bit of a 'shakedown' today with a 250 mile round trip from West Dorset to the Rhondda Valleys and back. :y
According to the computer, the V6 gave me an average of 28.9 mpg over a mixture of country twisties, motorway and urban driving. :)
-
XJ 3L?
-
XJ 3L?
No but I wouldn't mind one one day! :y
-
V6?
A Renault 30 from the eighties.
-
X type V6
-
Granada Ghia coupe, wrong I know but a damn nice car.
-
It's not a classic... yet! ;) I think however well preserved examples could be iconic classics one day! 8)
I'll probably get a right slagging for that statement when you guys work it out! ;D
It's not an X-Type V6, but that's not a bad guess! ;)

Freelander?

It was manufactured in the European Union in 2006 and has a 2.7V6. :)

Nobody in their right mind would buy a Merc of that vintage so it must be the SsangYong Rodius

If that is the best 'fatty Brewer' can do they can't be paying him much.

Is it four wheel drive by any chance? As in formerly Ford. :)
Edit: Ah, I didn't spot the clue on page 3.

With the MPG you are getting it must be petrol. Yes?
Wrong. It runs on dumper truck fuel. :-X
Some would say it might drive like a dumper truck but it's surprisingly refined. ;)

But you only managed 28.9 MPG on a run.
Tunnie will be shaking his head in disbelief.

Oh no, he's bought a Renault Avantine
A previous neighbour of mine worked for Renault UK head office, in marketing. He kept bringing home strange cars - like the Avantine, Vel Satis, 24v clit. Needless to say none of them ever sold any real quantity in the UK & he could never explain why they bothered to import RHD versions. He is now very high up in Renault Europe & things seem to have the other way with the current Laguna and Espace not even making it to these shores. I guess they are focussing on high volume products that, for some reason, British people continue to buy. ???

It's a hefty thing with a kerb weight of 2429 kgs (according to Parkers as I CBA to go out in the cold and dark to check the plate!), yet it is very comfortable on the motorway! :)
I can't believe you guys havn't worked this out yet! :o ;D
5 Pages!! ::)

Yes its a 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6 S in dark navy blue. :y
I await the ritual slagging and another 5 pages telling me what will go wrong with it! ;D
-
I actually thought it was a 2.7 TDV6 Disco or similar.
We had a loaner for a couple of days when the Disco 3 first came out, HSE model too. A remarkably comfortable motor, though 20mpg max, it was more expensive to run than my petrol Omega ;D

Okay.....so you've bought a car the weight of an ocean going liner and decided an undernourished 2.7 derv lump barely capable of pulling the skin off a rice pudding would be a good idea.
Happy Christmas.

It goes quite well to be honest, but it wouldn't suit TB's sideways driving style! :o ;D

TB is on the portly side....... (Note....I didn't say fat bastard)
I'm surprised he is so enthusiastic behind the wheel.

Couldn't possibly be as bad as the little 1.4 (or 1.2 maybe) petrol Skoda Rapid I had as a loan car yesterday.. now that really couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.

I found they went reasonably well, up to illegal road speeds, but drinks like a drunk in doing so.
Didn't have the loaner long enough to see what it would manage when no being thrashed everywhere.

With the high centre of gravity I don't think whanging it into a roundabout or tight corner at warp speeds, as you do TB would end well. :-\ ;)
It does however have 'presence' on the road due to it size and it does go well in a straight line. :y I ran out of duel carriageway the other day though when doing an overtake that wouldn't have bothered the Mundano or Beemer. :o ::) ;D

Do I detect road rage already?
No I feel quite superior sat up there looking down on all you plebs! ;D
I'm a prol not a pleb. Or I could be a prol and a pleb.
No you are definitely a Patrician M'lud, it's just that you act like a Plebeian. :P ;D
More pauper than patrician, Sir Tig.
Nobody drives a 10 year old Signum unless they are impoverished.

Sir Tig...... if you will insist on buying 'a van with windows' then the Range Rooney fitted with the 5.0 S/C V8 would probably be a better bet for moving something so heavy. Fuel consumption would probably be similar judging from the figures you are currently getting with derv.
It will still be slow, but not glacially slow.
Last time I borrowed a S/C RR, £100 of fuel got me from Oxford to home, to Huntingdon, to home, back to Oxford ::)
I'm not very bright.......or particularly good at geography.
What is that in MPG?
10-12...

The S/c RR is about 600 KG more than my car (about one whole Westfield)
Even so 10 -12 MPG suggests you don't suffer with 'Tunnie foot'
