Title: seal on sunroof ?
Post by: Chazza12 on 19 January 2018, 15:05:54
Hi all. can you replace the seal on the sunroof, if so is there a how to, corner is lifting away so thing it needs removing and cleaning up and putting a new seal on, looked for a new glass with seal but they only seam to sell the hole unit and runners and motor etc when i only need the glass ?

If you mean the metal frame is lifting then you'll want one off a breaker, that bonded to the glass so realistically no chance of replacing just that... if you mean the felt seal around it, I imagine you may find a new old stock one somewhere,  but again,  one off a breaker shouldn't be troublesome to locate.
Replaced mine couple of years back.  :)

yeah its the felt rubber has a few splits in it and the corner on drivers side has about a 1cm gap when wet thats lifted up and seal still in original place, when its warm it shrinks down to a 5 mil gap just on this corner bit glass and metal look fine, is it just glued in place the felt bit. ? as said tried to get a glass but they won't split, £90 for the hole unit. when only need the glass or the seal.

Incidentally, it isn't actually a seal... More of a vague plug to reduce cabin noise that automatically results from having a 3' x 1.5' hole in the roof ::)

Incidentally, it isn't actually a seal...

It us, but just never intended to be a watertight seal
