anyone got part code for headlight level sensor??
got low beam fld vision on display...
not using old ones try getting bracket off mine as was right git gonna need to drill the screws out etc.. rather just buy brand new and get another 14 years out of them haha

Are the lights still functioning ok when you turn them on?, ie, go down then come back up again which shows self levelling adjusters are ok. I have the same message on mine and it passed MOT last month. I think the guy who does my car mechanics was quoted around £70 for a sensor from Vx. :-\ HTH.

The funny thing is that when I installed a new battery the warnings, that had been flashing up every so often, stopped :o :o :)

Already inspected wirings that come to sensors?
I had very small crack at rear sensor wiring insulation and over time water made it tricks and that warning message lighted up.

warning message on for years(least 5)... lights work fine but do not move up and dow. when first turn on...
wiring appears to be ok no rips etc is possible wiring failed however sensor being common fault and its age.. id like to fit new front one then fit a new rear if warning message doesnt disappear that way know it brand new

The electrical part is the same front and rear just the brackets are different.
Have you tried repairing yours, they are easy to disassemble.

Screws are seized can't remove bracket and what do you need to do to sensor to repair

There's the bolts holding them to the subframes and screws holding them to the brackets.
If you can't undo the brackets, then you're clearly not trying...

How can this be repaired? I get these error occasionally. Last time I asked, the price was well over £200.

Depends what you find when you take it apart,they have 3 or 4 soldered joints which can fail.

My dad said he soaked his sensor in a petrol based degreaser it works now. Could it just be dirty? Perhaps I could use a contact cleaner used in electronics, i.e. potentiometers. Maybe we can even use a potentiometer :D
How can they justify charging £200 for something like this....

when they bring up the field vision error message is it because it has detected the sensor has gone open circuit ? .and can they fail in other ways too.like no error messages but no signs of lights moving ? .

pic as promised,a lot of stuff going on inside so any water ingress may be terminal but may just need some resoldering.

So been reading somewhere on here that its a hall effect and uses a magnetic arm to give position and some say it may be a pot. Can anyone confirm either. If it was a pot and the arm came off surely it wouldnt bring up a fault as the shaft is designed to move anyway it just wouldnt be indicating what the suspension was doing . . .? Just curious how it operates .thanks.

Mine was magnetic and the arm itself fell out and disappeared....no repairing that one!!

Was trying but apart from grind them off re drilling and tapping weren't moving ...
I'd always rather fit new parts when something like this regardless of cost...
Could be there Unsoldering every joint and resolder get back on and still doesn't work ... Lots of effort and time wasted ...
If can be bough new I'd rather just buy new... Or if someone selling a known good pair swap to at once with brackets

agree that resoldering every joint is not feasible but the 3 obvious main contacts are easy to spot.personally I'm not prepared to spend £100 plus for a single part when the complete car was bought for £150.

These are hall effect devices and tend to suffer 2 failure modes:
1) The ball joints on the arm get stiff due to water ingress and eventually the extra force distorts the plastic body of the sensor, water gets in and game over.
2) The arm comes loose and drops out of the sensor body. Sometimes it will snap back in and, if the ball joints are freed up, it will be fine. Often it won't.
The mounting screws securing the sensor to the bracket are usually siezed and unless you're very careful the plastic housing will crack as you try to unscrew them.
Basically, a bit of maintenance, freeing up and greasing the ball joints every so often, will keep them in good condition.

Dave the ones on my current breaker are giving codes for being unserviceable, if that's the case you are welcome to cannibalise them for bracketry or casings, Ps the stereo works fine !

thankyou to kevin above for that description. out of curiosity although mine doesnt give any warning messages and the lights are aligned fine when driving there doeasnt seem to be the initial movement people say happens at first. what are they supposed to do.

This is the normal function test. If they don't do it then summat is not working properly. :y

I believe there are two levelling sensors one on the n/s/r suspension and one on the front suspension-but I can't recall which side.
