They're driving one of these around on Antiques Road Trip this week. I really like the old thing, something different.
-
I had to google this because I'm much younger than you and don't remember them in period. :)
-
WAY before my time, too! :y ;D
Ron.
What is it; East German, Russian?

It's an Audi.

:o :o :o ;)

Gordon Bennett!!!

It's a 2 stroke. A cloud of 2 stroke smoke will follow it wherever it goes.
Having said that I love the sound and smell of 2 stroke bikes from a time when we didn't need to save the Earth. :)

With the obligatory Castrol "R", Doctor? :y 8)

There's four or five regularly appear on our local classic car runs over here , one a 1950's prepared rally car. They were assembled in Cork from ckd kits.
Lovely little things with bright cheery interiors .

I remember these when we used to visit my aunt in South Croydon one of her neighbours had one & also a Borgward

A Borgward? Didn't they have them in Harry Potter? ;D
-
I believe DKW were one of the four car manufacturers that merged to become Audi. The Borgward Isabella was a very nice looking car :y
-
Got the four rings on it :y
-
I thought Audi evolved from Auto Union.
-
It was iirc the merger of Auto Union,DKW,Horch and Wanderer that became Audi.

Seems I was partially right. ;)

Yep, from the days before they invented the fifth ring(piece) that goes in the driver's seat nowadays. :y
-
I remember seeing film footage of those Auto Union racing cars where the driver was sat well forward ahead of the long rear deck.Think they had a 16cyl engine? thought they looked amazing :y

I remember an article 10-15 years ago, maybe more, on the restoration of one of those Auto Union V16s. Balls of tungsten carbide were required for the test drive, apparently. ;D
