Omega General Help / Re: Both wipers very slow
« on: 20 July 2018, 22:31:27 »
hi. you have ball joints on the end of the arms that see nothing but rubbish from the road. good greasing with spray grease is good. th motor will need a strip down though.
you need to remove the wiper arms and then the plastic panel underneath. 2-3 torques bit screws. place on n/s due to washer pipe.
4 x 8 mm bolts and an electrical connection(easily removed) and it will need a bit of tenderness towards the o/s to pull off the pin(you will see it at the back of the motor on a rubber) and then will come free.. easier than it sounds. then strip and lubricate.
Very easy to do. sounds harder than it is. I did mine when i changed the heater control valve. did the valve and the wiper system in under 3 hours....

Maybe the first thing i would do is lubricate the arms.  when i did my heat exchanger valve i was very surprised to find how dry they were.
good place to start before thinking of the motor which in the past i have lubricated many and found they worked much better as the manufacturer does not want them to last so do not offer much lubrication from new.
Hope this helps..

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Estate aerial mount
« on: 02 April 2017, 21:30:45 »
Thanks

After a while i did this and found it was a active aerial

I have ordered a shark fin one as this will stop the fouling with the spoiler which i think messed the last one up.

Thanks
Jay

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Estate aerial mount

Hi all
I have a broken aerial which i found when washing the car but also found the base rubber falling out.
So thought i would replace both and be done.
On looking for a new one i found 2 types which look identical but 1 is passive and 1 is active.
The active one obviously has a Electrical cable attached too.
Can i tell which mine is without the removal of the head lining or is this a must before.
My system is a Bose setup.
Thanks
Jay

Omega General Help / Re: CCR2006. is it 2 Ohm or is it the car
« on: 27 January 2017, 16:41:00 »
I ended up stripping the speaker down as i could not get one for less than £100.
Found the back had rusted off the magnet and moved slightly.
All cleaned up and stuck back on in the centre with silicone sealant and built back up and now works perfectly.

Also changed the CD unit with old radio and now got a system that sounds like new again.
Thanks for all the help.

Right
sounds about right.

Thanks for your great help.
Will purchase another unit and swap changer over.

BTW any ideas on the speaker. just cannot find a 6.5" 2 Ohm for the door.
Might have to look overseas.

Thanks again

Right.
Thought it was something like that.

So i have seen other people trying to put an aftermarket unit in these cars and having volume issues.
if the head unit is pretty much a standard type unit powering a Bose system, is the 2006 much less powerful as modern days units are so this does not overpower the Bose amp like a modern unit would.

Thanks

Right
So it sounds like this goes into a Bose amp
Which i believe is on the offside side panel in the estate boot.

I have got the cd changer locking and saying no cd when finding cd4
and the drivers door speaker is shot. so looking for another one, but this seems to be near impossible

I did notice on the back of the CCR2006 you have the standard power plug and a speaker plug but also have another one with 20 pins inside.
Wondered if that was to a seperate Bose unit aswell as the heads display.
Thanks

I know this sounds odd but i am trying to repair my Bose system but i am getting some conflicting info.

I can get a replacement unit (CCR2006) but it comes from a Vectra which i didn't think had a Bose system so that would make it a 4 Ohm system.
As we know it does not state on the radio which impedance it is.

I can also get a aftermarket unit that states it replaces the CCR2006.
Now the Question

Does the radio unit go into another unit , Say a Bose unit to change it to the 2 Ohm system.

Cannot find any wiring info to confirm this.
And will all CCR2006 units be the same.

Might sound daft but don't want to change it and it doesn't work..

Thanks for any help
