Omega General Help / Breather hose
« on: 26 May 2016, 15:55:00 »

  2.2, petrol, auto

Hi, having replaced cam cover, cleaned throttle body, breathers etc. have decided to replace larger breather hose from cam
cover to air box as not really in very good condition.  Part number 9224 266 (0066501).

Parts Dept. at my local Vauxhall dealer advised me that no longer available !  Hard to believe as surely quite common for
  these to be replaced.

Can anyone advise where can buy one (good quality)  ?

  Thanks.

  Another topic:

I plan to shortly do an engine oil change (Omega 2.2 petrol, 2003, auto).

Just wondered what the current thinking is on using engine flush for the 2.2 petrol ?

Omega General Help / Re: Fault code MAF circuit
« on: 19 May 2016, 12:43:44 »

Just to update my situation with the MAF.

Found a second hand (genuine Siemens) MAF from breakers for £20.

Fitted it yesterday eve, dashboard EML warning light now out and now idles as normal.

I took the car for a test drive and seems ok so far.  Hopefully problem solved  ;D

  Thanks for input.

  Thanks for your reply.

My diagnostic readings were taken with the car running at idle.

Omega General Help / Fault code MAF circuit
« on: 13 May 2016, 09:46:04 »

2003 Omega 2.2 saloon, automatic, petrol

Hi, wonder if anyone can help with this one.

Last night I changed leaking cam cover gasket (oil was leaking on plugs causing misfire), cleaned breathers etc., also
removed throttle body, cleaned with carb. cleaner and re assembled.  I used the recommended guides posted on this website.

Am now getting engine management light (engine / emissions symbol).  Am reading the following codes with my reader :

Current fault:   P0100 - powertrain mass or volume air flow circuit  -  this is a new fault code, did not have before cleaned
 throttle body assembly.
Pending fault:  P1700 - power train  -  had this previously.

Reader also still listing following codes (no warning indication so may be just historical:  P1555 powertrain and P0130 02
sensor  circuit (bank 1 sensor 1).

The new fault code P0100 obviously relates to the MAF, I had to disconnect plug to get throttle body off car.  I have checked
that I re connected the MAF sensor plug and seems ok. There was no fault code relating to this before I disconnected and
cleaned throttle body assembly. Could I have damaged the MAF ?

Strangely, when I cancel the fault code with my reader, the warning light on dash changes from the engine (emissions
symbol to the car / spanner symbol and stays on). When ignition is switched off and back on again the dash warning lamp
with engine / emissions symbol comes back on again.

Car starts fine, seems to run and drive well and ticks over at constant revs (just under 1000 RPM).

Hope that my explanation of the problem is understandable, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all help, particularly Lazydocker for ECU readings.

Will check throttle body and let you know how I get on.

Any help is really appreciated, Lazydocker sounds like you are a busy person, I run another car as well so no rush.

If you do find time to have a look, please let me know and we can perhaps arrange something when convenient.

I work in engineering (not cars!) so have a bit of technical knowledge.  Obtained a basic diagnostic  ECU reader from internet, which produced the codes stated.  But don't have special diagnostic reader needed for Transmission control module.

Hi, away at weekend !, thanks to all who have replied to my post so far:

Harris K Telemacher  -  my last 4 cars have all been Vauxhalls (2 x Omega, 2 x Cavalier), all except current car have
had to replace cam sensor, so this is certainly worth considering.

RobG  -  re your post TPS, would a fix be to replace the Throttle Position Sensor, or does the Throttle Body itself require
  further attention ?

The Boy  -  are you able to advise location of Transmission Control Module on 2.2 petrol, auto, 2003 reg ?

Lazydocker  - based in Bury St Edmunds, work in Ipswich.

  Thanks again for advice.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Engine / trans elec fault
« on: 08 January 2016, 12:40:52 »

Hi, Omega 2.2 CD petrol, automatic, 03 reg.

I am experiencing the following issue:

When car being driven (any conditions), engine / transmission electronic fault warning indicator on dash (car symbol with spanner) sometimes comes on and engine goes into safety mode.  Usually the warning indicator can be re set by turning the ignition off and back on, but occasionally the fault warning indicator can only be re set by attaching a diagnostic reader.

This has been happening over a period of several weeks, initially only on the occasional journey but recently has become much more frequent (almost every journey).

Diagnostic reader gives the following fault code readings:
P1700 power train transmission control module
P1555  power train electronic variable orifice output

(engine runs as normal and auto box changes up and down smoothly, no obvious signs of any mechanical or electrical fault).

Just wondered whether anybody has experienced this before and / or has any indication what might be the cause ?  Any help or advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

  Hi

Just wanted to say hello as a new member .

I have been driving Omegas for the past 12 years or so (5 years 98 Mk 1 2.0 GLS and past 7 years 03 2.2 CD petrol auto).
So its surprising that I have never logged on to this site before !

They are great cars, but now have a one or two problems that I need some help with.

  All the best.
