Omega General Help / Re: intermittant problem on my 3.2
« on: 02 October 2016, 20:22:43 »
Thanks guys. After reading the other threads i was thinking this might be the case. I cant believe how common crank sensor failure is on these cars.

Ill get down to vauxhall and get another one (after ive looked to see which one i need to get, that is) ☺👍

I got a disc from the previous owner for the navi system and tried to get it working but the disc player wont recognise it. After using a disc player cleaner i tried some normal cd's and it picked them up but it still refused to even acknowledge that there was a disc in the player where the nav cd was concerned.

The disc looks quite worn tbh and looks like the original one that came with the car.  i wondered where i could find a replacement for it. Its not the all singing colour display (unfortunatly) just the basic style jobbie.

Cheers for any advice in advance peeps ☺

Omega General Help / intermittant problem on my 3.2
« on: 02 October 2016, 20:04:44 »
Hi everyone.

My 02 3.2 elite has an intermittant fault. It will start and run fine most of the time but there have been aprox 5 occasions where it has refused to start but after a bit of hanging around, checking connections  and a bit of old skool cortina 'faith healing' - i.e hitting the top of the lump and hoping for the best, she started and ran perfectly again. I had my mate come over last night with his computer doo-dad and apart from an exhaust sensor registered as having a fault,it has nothing on the computer. He reset the fault and it hasnt come back up (so far).

When it did fail to start there was a strange high pitched noise coming from under the plastic cover in the middle of the lump (aint ever heard a car do it before so i have no idea if thats normal)

Since the last start fail (on the way home from the garage last night) it has started on the button and ran fine again.

Am i right in thinking it could be a problem with the crank sensor or am i barking up the wrong tree hre?

Hi. Thought id come over and join as last month i was looking for a replacement for my old daily driver and after looking around at the usual stuff (vectras/mondeos/etc) i thought id be a bit different and look at the omega. On gumtree i found a 2002 (52) omega 3.2 elite auto saloon.......and yes,it was silver lol, being sold by an old boy in chelmsford. I went over the next morning, looked it over, took it for a test drive and had to have it. Since buying it ive done mostly commutes to work and a couple of jaunts to langley (nr slough) and colchester.

Gotta say im absolutely loving the car......especially when the traction control is off and sports mode is on. its a suprisingly fun drive for a slushbox....quick,quiet and sooooo comfy.absolutely eats the miles up.im planning a trip to south wales at the end of the month to see my mate and let her 'stretch her legs' a bit.

This is one of the few ventures ive had into vauxhall ownership as in the past ive mostly had fords but i have had a couple of mk2 cavs,a 79 manta,a '80 chevette and (well...g.m) a couple of trans ams.

Are there other omega owners around this neck of the woods? Do u do the shows, have meets, etc?
