Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Another Omega......

Going to bump this thread, because the EML is still coming on randomly.
Sometimes I start the car, the light goes out, then comes on again. Always when cold. The car starts first time. Once I switch off and start again, the light will stay out for the rest of the day, until it's parked up again for a long period.
I've also noticed when the car's ticking over, it'll give a small blip in the revs.
Airflow Meter?

People who leave it until the very last second before exiting a motorway or dual carriageway.
On a motorway, drivers get one miles' notice that the exit is coming up, then half a mile, then 300, 200, 100 yards, and still some drivers leave it until the sliproad starts before scooting across two or three lanes to make their exit. Bloody dangerous.
I've also been on motorways in the early hours of the morning, approaching an on slip, a car comes down it, joins the motorway and immediately whizzes straight across all lanes to get to lane three. Why? There was only me on the road and I was a few hundred yards back.
I could go on all day about driving standards. I think they're pretty poor now. An awful lot of drivers just don't seem to relax, they must overtake everything in sight, even if it's dangerous to do so.
I'm looking forward to hanging up my lorry keys. Been driving artics for 36 years now, six to go..........

Powersounder now out and plugs isolated. No more noise at the mo.
What a clever place to put it, right under the scuttle drain. Mine certainly showed signs of water ingress in the plugs.

Can the powersounder be taken out completely and binned?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Main alarm or powersounder?

1999 T reg 2.0 CD.
Well, you can imagine the scene. Quarter to nine in the morning on a Bank Holiday Monday.
I heard a strange noise, a sort of low hum, which I thought was my pc tower, which changes note every so often. Then the low hum changed to a loud blahhhhhhhhh. To cut a long story short, it was my car. I have never disconnected a battery so fast. The noise stopped.
I thought the alarms on these cars gave an alternating note, but this was a constant single note racket, like a loud ships' horn. No amount of playing with the key fob shut it up. The car started immediately, but still the noise kept going, which was when I whipped the battery terminal off.
Powersounder or main alarm?

Have another go after reading this

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.0

Yep, read through that before I attempted the PC test.
Watched and understood the video too.
It only does this when the car is cold. Start up - EML, switch off and start again - no EML. Very strange.

Right, just did the paperclip test, and to the best of my knowledge, it gave 3x3 flashes, followed by 3x10 flashes. Does this mean anything to anyone?

Paperclip it
I did try the test when I had the 2.5, but I'm not sure I'm getting the result right.
Just wondered if anyone has had this problem with their 2.0 ltrs.

Another EML light!!!
I got my 2.0 cd back at the weekend. A workmate and myself swapped our cars while we were at work.
Drove home, lovely, no problems, no warning lights, such a change after that 2.5 I had.
The Mrs and myself went out in it yesterday morning. Started straight away, but bugger me, the EML stayed on. Drove to where we were going but I noticed performance was down a tad. Did what we had to do, drove home, no EML, the car seemed quicker and smoother. Started it this morning, EML stayed on. Switched it off, started it again, no EML. Started it a few times after that and although illuminating with the other ignition lights, once started the light went off straight away, as it should. So, it seems the EML will stay on from cold unless the car is switched off and started again, then it will go out and stay out.
Are these cars sent to try my patience? It wasn't doing this when my mate bought it about a month ago.
Has anybody else had this problem?

Hmmm we need to figure that out then.
If the bell housing bolt pattern is the same as the sixers we're on!
I'm sure some brainy bugger on here will tell us.
Wouldn't be a Gold Top by any chance, would it  :y

Got the cd back now. Drove excellent coming home from work.
No lights on the dash, no exhaust blows, and I quite prefer the pre facelift dash.
Feeling a bit better about things now.

I'd love a 3.0 l 12 valve in the Omega. Would have to do away with the rubber injector hoses though
