Omega General Help / Re: Test Drove an Omega, advice please?
« on: 27 February 2018, 07:42:06 »
When i test drove mine the steering was a bit wooly and felt light then heavy, turned out that the worn bushes and tracking caused this. I kind of guessed these were gubbed. Also steering resevoir pipe had a slight leak so all that was needed was jubilee tightened.

Addy sent you pm, not sure if it went through. Just to say i got locking kit if you need it and help advice as done mine last year.

A dehumidifier is a good investment to keep car dry. Run it with all windows and vents shut. Have seen me empty about a pint or more of water in around 2 hours from it. You need to be able to shut door over mains cable so make sure cable is about middle of door shut and the cable will take up the shape of the door shut. Feels a bit tight at first but that is it being shoved into gap of door and sill.

I was hit by uninsured driver years ago i was driving an old rover 216. Polis told me to submit claim to motor insurance bureau, sent damage estimate and police report, got 280 back for a creased bumper, which i never bothered to fix.

Same thing happened to my senator, water pump impeller split into 3 bits, car still ran great though just loads and loads of boiling water really quickly, cup of T vicar?  :)

As I suspected I had to drill out the 2 bolts on both sides. Started out with a pack of silverline cobolt drills and used smallest to start a pilot hole. One of the holes was a bit offset, due to not getting the pilot started exactly in the middle, so the hole was getting bigger towards the pipe to flange section, and it would have worked out that the bolt head would have been resting on the flange to pipe weld join when I started tightening, so, after making a big ding in the remaining bit of thread with a chisel, had to drill the remaining thread with drill pointing up towards floor then grind it away with the side of the drill. Eventually got to a point where the bolt head is sitting flat on the flange face not jammed on to the weld join.

Everything looks like it's about ready to be assembled up; I just need another 54mm clamp for back box, and another 48mm clamp for the long bracket that holds the 2 centre sections in check.

Easy to read here.....

Replacement senator ones are expensive and metal. He is asking if Omega plastic fuel tanks fit a senator.

Would imagine they are different as in the straps and mounting points? Perhaps need custom version of them?

Will ask at ABS too as it's more likely someone there done it.

Omega General Help / meg tank does it fit senator?

As above, new teplacements are really expensive, and metal so thinking plastic meg one would be beter option

You're making a meal out if it; if you remove the bolts holding it to the cat, and unhook the rubber hangers the entire system will fall to the floor.

You then fit the new parts, starting at the cats, hanging it as you go. If the cat bolts aren't an issue it's a 45 minute job, working solo in the street.

Yep i usually do that with exhausts but i will put jack on it and undo rubbers and then drop it

So tonight I got under the car with the aid of my trusty drive on ramps (reverse on this time) and without much effort pulled the backbox off and the join was dust so never had to undo the clamps. Might try and salvage the clamps, but if not will try kwik fix for a fix!

Pulled both pipes from the middle section silencer as weakened by rust. Then decided to go for the meat and potatoes bit, the 2 bolts on each middle section to cat. With a little hindsight I think I should not have been so hasty because I just put a 13mm spanner and extended it with the closed end of another and all the nut heads sheared off.

Now got to get the studs out 4 of them boo hoo!

All that is left is the rubbers holding up the middle section, and there is a double clamp thing between the two pipes, the nuts look "weathered" so will be another cut off job I think or hammer a smaller socket on and heat.

Omega General Help / Re: stalled
« on: 06 February 2018, 17:15:10 »
p0150 relates to the mixture being out, the symptoms you have also tend to point towards a potentially failing MAF.

Can you read the live values for air flow and the learnt values for mixture?

Crank sensor should be showing a code if its an issue.

If it only requires a digy meter yes, is there a guide to do this?

Omega General Help / stalled
« on: 06 February 2018, 07:30:55 »
While pulling up to my drive yesterday i knocked it into neutral and the engine went splat. Never had that, i then reversed into drive and while doing so it stuttered and nearly stalled again. Also when at my folks i went to start and it just churned and churned and never started. I then turned key off then back to starting and it went. It did do this a couple of weeks ago but thought cause i had been lying fora while and in the cold. Seems there is a problem developing, what can i check, is this a known problem? I seen flashing spanner while trying to start it.

Currently have the p0150 or whatever it is code for O2 sensor, which is going to get looked at soon and exhaust change. It's drive by wire 2.6 v6. Done pedal check, seems only O2 sensor one and no others.

Update: just read its likey crank sensor, much are they from vx and does anyone have part number? Now i think on it i remember reading about this a wee while ago.
