From personal experience I cant say I have noticed the electronics being a common cause, the few I have seen were either a loose ground connection or an element fault.

With the heated rear screen on, are all bar showing signs of heating/clearing and all to a similar level?

I think so but will double check

I suppose it goes without saying a full geometry check after all the work

if the exhaust is so bad remove the o2 sensor on bank 2 and check its not blocked. but if the exhaust is as bad as you say it is then its no good it will have rust build up in the boxes limiting exhaust gases and building up in the exhaust this will make the sensor unable to adjust fuel etc. and be out of range of the sensor to adjust, and if the back box is the type with the webbing in side the rust build up will be stuck around the pipe. but you really need a new exhaust fitting. its not good on the engine with a damaged exhaust it can do damage to the cats.

What i've been thinking myself, backbox is full of crap, and centre sections holed. Am goin to replace as soon as i can.

I've heard this could be caused by maf sensor, do i need to get a code reader and check what's happening?

I got this after filling up with fuel the other day, not sure if worth mentioning it was costco fuel, car seems to be running fine. however could it be my exhaust as it has been blowing for some time but not got round to fixing it yet as don't use much.

When I shake exhaust you can hear it is full of crap, maybe partially blocked. Will be fixing as soon as however likely not until NY. It's an 02 2.6 and no work has been done on anything recently so light has just come on.

Noticed tonight on my drive home the EML was on. Whether filling it with costco fuel made any difference IDK but happened soon after that I'm guessing.

How much is Costco fuel out of interest?

say vs your local supermarket or Shell garage.

Costco was about 1.07 for regular, whereas supermarket stuff is about 1.16 thereabouts.

That’s really good, Costco Farnborough really, really needs to start selling fuel.

It is, not ran my car on it before seemed to run fine although bit of a fly in the ointment with that light coming on! probably a huge coincidence i hope.

Code is reading 0150, which I believe can mean 4 things but all related to the 02 sensor. My exhaust is rotten at the back and needs replaced and again not sure if this is precipitating the problem although this is all after the cats area.

Will need to try and get someone with a code reader or splash out and get one that can clear codes see if they come back.

I did check all that area and was draining, will take another look. Granted i've been finding water leaks on cars for 20 years so shouldn't be too hard to find once i go to town on it.

As per title, the radio signal goes fuzzy when rear screen on. Take it some sort of earth problem perhaps. Am i right in saying the rear element is the aeriel?

Passenger front swimming again, cant be scuttle drain as not blocked. Any further ideas what it could be? Not the time of year i want to start stripping out carpet and hosing down so will need to soak it up till i get round to having a proper look.

What he said.  :)

And yes, rears more prone to issue, the pistons usually spend most of their working life 'out' of the cylinder. Ie you spend longer with worn pads than new ones, and on that vein, of course traditionally fitting new pads means pushing the old, crusty pistons with poor surface back into the caliper, also causing sticking. The gaters/boots are , meant to prevent this but these rubbers frequently turn to brittle plastic over time and cease their corrosion inhibiting. (But you know all this, im teaching you to suck eggs)

Very much like the idea of clamping off calipers to isolate the issue - though maybe not in this weather, yeh?  ;)

Every now and again i take rear wheels off, push pistons in and then pump pedal a couple of times to keep them free. Do this especially if car rarely used. Can be done in situ if you have big pump pliers to catch edge of piston. You"ll usually get one or two that is partially seized.

Next job i think is flush and oil & filter change in box as up change is still a bit sticky. It looks like the same box as in senator if not mistaken, small sump and large sump. If so i d have spare gaskets. Have also started aquiring rear exhaust bits, can only afford one bit a month. Need to get 2 centre sections next.

Still not convinced scuttle is properly sealed, either that or water is leaking in wiper hole to engine bay. Not suffered leak into passenger floor again, checked drain and is clear so would love to know how that water got in. Hopefully it was the little bit of bulkhead join i sealed with grease. There was rust starting in join so i dug out all dried sealant and rust treated it but hadn't sealed it at the time.

Got a dehumidifier, run it in car for an hour on full pelt, i done it the other day and it soaked up about 2 cups of water. That was after my wet carpet affair though. Stick on recirculation so cabin is hermetically sealed as best it can be while running it.
