has anyone any idea what they are called? You know the ones, they have a plastic pin through the middle to spread the rear legs - if you'll pardon the term. I want some for fixing the lower headlight trim on the Elite.

Omega General Help / New 'flat' spoke Elite wheels vs 'round' ones

I prefer the older soft 'round' spoked Elite wheels, 225/55/16 on my TD Estate to the flat spoked, 235/45/17's on my 'new' F/L Elite saloon, and was thinking of swapping them over. Does this swap pose any problems either way? Certainly the ride on the lower profile tyres is harder, but the handling is slightly better when in a hurry.
I'm sure there has been discussion on here about the effect of different wheel sizes, but old age prevents me remembering the different issues involved. :-/

Omega General Help / TD fuel consumption

I've been running my TD chipped for the last few years, and recently went back to the entry level chip to protect the AR25 box until I get round to fitting the AR35 sitting in my garage.
I am concerned that my consumption, empirical and computer readout, shows that I am only getting around 24.5 mpg running around on short journeys, and 32 on a run. Before the car was originally chipped in 2007, I was getting about 26/35.
The car has been extremely well serviced in accordance with OOF recommendations. Milage is 105K.
Any suggestions as to how I might restore its mpg, other than re-chipping? :-?

I posted some time ago asking if anyone had come up with the option of switchable chips in a TD. No-one had, but this firm claims to offer the option: http://www.viezu.com/performance-widget/. Has anyone tried one yet?

Can anyone tell me if a 427 ECU will run in a TD that had a 428?
I realise that it would need Tech2 anyway, but just wonder if there is any other reason why it would not. :-/

I have seen some comments about mfl being better than facelift models. I am interested in tapping the wealth of OOF knowledge, particularly regarding reliability of Elite 3.0l or 3.2l models, best model years, etc., as I am fairly sure that I will be looking for one soon as a spare car. Any comments, good or bad welcome.

Has anyone thought of fitting a 2.5td with an 'optional' chip or re-map? I'm thinking that it would be useful, in the interests of fuel economy, if you could select the chip or remap with a switch - Sports mode?- when required, and have it in normal mode for long range cruising.
