Going to have a look at my levellers tomorrow. I'm on a roll now after doing the maf. Trouble is, I dont really know what I'm looking for. The garage said it looked like someone had had a jack under them. I am hoping I may be able to just undo the damage done with a bit of grunting and bending. Before I take the plunge, ANY advice would be great. Thanks, Steve.
No idea about Alfas :(

On Omegas, its normally the sensor on suspension arms has come unclipped, or the servo motors seized.

I just wanted to say a public thanks to Sassanach for changing the transmission fluid on my car today, got this done as a precaution really as the fluid was the original (62K) and it was time for a change. The gearchange is a lot smoother as a result.

Anyway, a very knowledgeable chap who I reckon could dismantle and reassemble an autobox with his eyes closed! So thank you for sorting it out and showing me how it's done. I reckon I could even attempt it myself now i've seen it done, however, having the car 6ft up in the air is a definate advantage I don't have the luxury of here!!!!

Cheers Mate  :y

PS. Definately inspired by the neat LPG install on the Saloon........ got me thinking now!!!!
Yup, he certainly does know his autoboxes. And the rest of the car as well :)

I really must do the ATF in the MV6, but I daren't remove the sump as I'm dreading finding bits of washer!

I reckon, sadly, its toast.  If the damage was enough to stop it running then, its still enough to stop it running now.

Just an update

belt kit fitted, set up just by eye, using the marks on the camcover. Won't have the tool I need till tomorrow.

Anyhow, after the belt was fitted, I turned the engine over by hand a few times. I've known harder V6's to turn, which made me a little concerned.

But I could feel the compression as I kept going round.

Now for the compression test (with a charged battery!)  :-/

2-4-6 bank, compressions are all fine as expected.
1-3-5 bank, compressions are definately lower on a couple of cylinders, but still just in the green.

Not sure if setting the belt up properly with the kit will help? I'm certainly not gonna start it until I've done that, I chickened out.

What are the thoughts... will it run? Shall I turn the key :-/

I'm prepared to hedge my bets that it will run, but may well have a slightly lower compression on those two - maybe the valves have just skimmed, enough to disturb their seating by a tiny amount?

Thoughts please!
Did you ever do a compression test before this issue?

As a parent of four, I fully agree. :y
I'm the youngest of five, and I have no compalints with the way I was brought up (I may have thought some things were unfair at the time), and all 5 of us are 'good' considerate people, never intentionally cause any harm to others.

I was, sadly, a bit rebelious at school, as I knew I could get away with anything.

There obviously will be exceptions, but poor parenting is probably the reason for the unsocialable behaviour we have now.  Coupled with the do-gooder's 'thou must not smack thou child' when they misbehave.

If my dad have told me to stand on a naughty step after I had knowingly and willingly misbehaved, I would have laughed.  The fear of a good slap from dad was enough to keep me in check, as I knew he would go through with it. And it would hurt, both physically and ego wise.

How I laughed when school said they were stopping any form of corporal punishment (the PE teachers didn't obey this though!), I could do what I like, and the worse punishment was staying behind for an hour.  Except PE, where I was well behaved.

Now I was in Tescos the other day, and some grumpy kid was pushing stuff off the shelves, and the (presumably) mother was giving it all the 'look at me, you'll go to the naughty corner'.  In my book, that is bad enough behaviour to warrant physical disipline.

I work in an area of Milton Keynes that suffers from social breakdown, the 15yr old parents have no idea, nor do the 30yr old grandparents.  The young kids just run riot, and the teenage ones are anti social and uncontrollable.  Some nutter, probably around 15 or so, cam eup to me the other day showing me his stab wounds that he was proud of.
