This is surreal, I cant believe we are proposing to fit a second hand spring, let alone fit it to one car then fit it to another one two weeks later.

Will you need the loan of a spring in 12 months time?...perhaps we need to start a Forum library of essential-for-MoT spares, maximum 2 weeks loan or face a fine.

Would it not be easier to buy an Omega in every colour they did then hire them out at MOT time so you can put your own plates on  ::)

Some weekends it looks like Mark's drive has every version and colour of Omega parked on it or filling the Close.  :) You'd think the neighbours would get upset or wise-up and buy their own Omegas.

There is a spring on my garage floor, currently being used to stub an already broken toe everytime I open the door, but promised to Tunnie to fit on the Senna in a couple of weeks.
You could borrow it and save the air from turning blue whenever I go into the garage.

Learned to drive a little Fordson tractor and also a Landmaster at my school chums farm then progressed to getting dads car out of the garage when it was wanted for an outing (or mending). Took my test just after my 17th in a Zephyr 6 Low line, 2553 cc, 4 speed column change.
First car of my own was a Ford E93A sidevalve but after my seat fell through the floor due to woodworm  :o (plywood floors) it was replaced with the first of several Imps.

Here we go again.
Have you been a naughty boy and been buying Omegas again Mr McB?
The kind doctors may have disconnected your back from your pain sensors but thats no reason to go leaning over V6s, you know they arnt good for your health and the drains have only just recovered from that (slightly) leaky facelift.

Anyway welcome back...Im away to my bed now to (hopefully) dream about Andrea Corr polishing my leather seats.

Ow....its an output shaft....thought it was a pinion seal...

Yeah, but ive got an output seal in stock and we get to practice on someone elses car before we do our own.
We will need the big crowbar and the mighty Thor on this one.

For a compression test:

Kill ignition somehow..coils dont like working into a disconnected plug lead and can die as a result.
Stop injectors.

Open throttle fully and crank til you get a stable reading.

When a car loses its coolant the temp gauge goes high but is often missed (especially by the females of our species), as more coolant is lost the heater starts to go cold due to lack of circulation and the gauge goes normal or low because its not fully immersed in water anymore.
If its run for too long in this state the head gets very hot and may warp, exhaust valves can burn out and the gasket fails.

I would refill it with water and see how it runs then work through any symptoms.

The make of motorcycle I have owned for over 30 years.

Which reminds me...I promised to restore it (again) when it reached its 50th birthday which is this year.

Himself seems happy with Virgin.

Me...Im on ntl so service is either brilliant or non-existant depending on sunspot activity or the price of cheese

IIRC, when you move  the lever it just cuts-off the raised part of the beam that normally lights up the verge, the beam still points slightly left but not enough to blind a Frenchie. A LHD lamp with the lever set for RHD would (at best) have a flat beam without the extra light on the verge but would also shine light to the right of the car centre line.
