Insignia Q
« on: 23 January 2014, 17:13:05 »

Does the Insignia have an analogue speed signal?

If so where might it be located?

TIA, Al :y

I wouldn't mind guessing there is only CAN on the connector. Obviously at some point in the speedo, that gets converted.

Did it change on later ones? As the half-CANs would have analogue for the HUs, for SDVC. Later Vecs had the full CAN HUs, so that analogue wouldn't be required.

All 4 Vec Cs I've dealt with have had one, 3x '55 facelifts and one '58... :y

Have been advised a box is needed, but would prefer to fit the wiring myself...( Not that I'm precious about my cars or anything :D). ..if at all possible :-\

It wouldn't. :(

Can't think what a late vec-c would need analogue speed for, unless its a hangover from the half-can days

VIN :-\

The Vecs were two Design models, one Exclusive and one Life... So no consistent reason I can think of either ;D

The wiring diags are generic, not filtered for a specific config/spec.  Not that I currently have access to Insignia Schems, as I'm, as usual, laying in the bath...

Don't tell my physio, as he goes radio rental, but I find it relieves my back.

Also, the steam at the moment loosens the flippin' snot I'm full of.

If it's of any help then the "analogue" signal that the ABS/TC module produces in the Omega isn't actually analogue at all. I STR that it's a 0 / +12v "square" wave that changes either frequency and/or mark/space ratio with speed. I scoped it once in a former life - but can't remember much more than that .......

I know for sure that it's a blue/red cable - on the Omega ..........

I don't think you are going to find a speed pulse signal in your Insignia.

I think you are going to need one of these http://sailesmarketing.com/products/can-bus-interfaces/cb-1-canbus-interface/ to receive the speed data from the canbus and give you a speed pulse for the taximeter.

NB this isn't a recommendation for that particular manufacturer, just an illustration of the device you need (though of course they may be an excellent manufacturer :-\)

To finish my input, you either need a converter such as a CANM8-PULSE (sub 50 notes) or you would have to tap into the ABS sensor input to the ABS ecu.

The meter is a digitax f1. Whatever the Omega/Vectra C produces works, so looking for same on Insignia :y

Considering... http://www.connects2.co.uk/ProductInformation.aspx?id=10862&p=CTHVX02

As only has CD400, so swapping my current bluetooth headunit is a possibility...
