Anti seize grease/paste
« on: 12 July 2015, 22:25:09 »

Any recommendations?

I have been using copper grease for years on exhaust bolts and it works but it leaves a filthy mess. It also works  on threads exposed to water/coolant but I don't think it has any anti-corrosion properties :-\

Does any one know of anything better/newer/cleaner?

I have spent 2 days undoing masses of partially seized nuts to get the turbo off SWMBO's Galaxy. The job should have taken 2 hours (allegedly).

I will definitely be putting something on all the threads to stop them seizing again but I think there must be something cleaner than copper grease :-\

You have my sympathies there mate  ::) ::) ::) I've been exactly the same with the Disco suspension.

I've used this stuff Locktite Anti-seize copper http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/engine-oils-fluids/lubricating-penetrating-oil/loctite-anti-seize-copper-lubricant-20g

Not cheap but does what it says.....  :-\ :-\ :-\

Copper grease is the tool for the job.

If it leaves a filthy mess, you're using far too much! A smear on the end of a manifold stud, which the nut will carry down the thread as you tighten it, is plenty. A cheap disposable brush is the best way to apply it.

I just dip the end of a bolt/stud into the tub and allow it to 'flow' down the thread. No mess. No need for paint brushes.

The only time i get it on my finger is when applying it to the back of brake pads, and thats only a smear.  Comes out in the wash!  ::)
