Project TB2 - Update 8
« on: 19 April 2007, 19:59:36 »

Not much happened recently, but have put in a new (well, new to car) washer bottle sensor, and replaced the plug for the brake sensor wiring. So thats all the MID errors fixed.

Put in another viscous fan - this one does howl more, and fitted yet another cap.  This one really does seem to be able to hold the pressure, though still starts to weep when temp hits 96 ish.

Temperature now seems to be stable between 94 and 96, though I haven't really pushed it - I suspect it may creep up higher.

CTS not yet fixed, as dealer still hasn't got the gaskets I ordered nearly 3 weeks ago.  I can see what the fault is though, just can't get in with soldering iron.

Even gadget hands can't solder in that gap, I could only get one hand in, need 2 for a good job there.

You tried a Beemer dealer yet? Or what about Land Rover dealer?

I can very nearly get in there - found a route to get both hands in - one by oil filter, other around back of engine...

I was hoping you would get the problem sorted out quite quickly :-[, you have a lot more patients than me Jaime.
the Honda i brought blew its radiator on monday, so i ordered a NEW one that night, it came wednesday morning. this is the link but they only list Omegas up to 99 :-?

http://www.adrad.co.uk/new/manufacturers.php

its says an omega 2.5TD with a/c and an auto is £49.22 +vat+£10 postage. but a manual with a/c is £126+vat+£10postage.
i wasnt convinced about the price, but sure enough, it was delivered ontime for the price, mine was £56 delivered - and it has a oil cooler for the auto trans built in !

i do hope you get it sorted soon
regards
Dave

I tried ordering one from there, received an email the next day refunding my money, saying out of stock.

Shame the Honda knackered its rad. Other than that is it more successful for you than the Omega was?

Managed to retap the sump plug today, hope it will be OK.  We couldn't get the old sump bolt out (stripped that much), so we had to lever it a bit, and have marked the sump plug mating surface.  Time will tell if I can get a good seal...

Dealer still cannot get the friggin intake gaskets, but the intake is coming off in the morning whatever.

Gave it a good 100mph blast, temp rose to just under 100, but quickly came back down. Still lost a bit of coolant out of the cap though.
