cooling system flush

Thinking of flushing the cooling system out the weekend.Does anyone know the water to anti freeze ratio on refilling. :y

50:50   :)

Easiest way is to drain, flush until happy then drain. put in 5 litres Vx red antifreeze, top up with water. "burp" well, top up with water as air is removed.

This works for a very simple reason ... V6 coolant quantity is a tad under 10 litres .. so sticking 5 litres Vx Red in and topping up gives almost a  50:50 mix  :)

And what's the best way of removing the air?  By squeezing the coolant hoses maybe?  Need to do a coolant change myself soon.

From cold, heater on max hot, expansion cap off, water at correct mix and level.  Start engine and, whilst cap still removed, systematically squeeze large (2"?) hose next to battery and left side of engine.  Keep the exp tank topped up and allow system to warm up.  You will feel when the hoses get hot....

Keep ging till the fans kick in, if possible, and maintain water level.  Allow to cool overnight and top up again when cold in the morning.  Keep an eye over the next few days worth of running to ensure all air is out/water level replaced...   ;)
