Just a small word of warning, Al, Brent crude oil is up about 6% over the last week. The last thing you need is £2 a litre petrol with your gas guzzler.
Qué sera, sera. The R Class wasn't exactly economical... 28.1mpg over 19,252 miles.  If it does 24/25 mpg I will be happy enough ;)

That's something like what I got off mine ..... the ML350 easily does high 20s & low 30s if you're gentle with your right foot

... easily does low 20s too  ::)

Her car has come out in sympathy with mine, and thrown exactly the same fault code, FFS  >:(

(Albeit with a different subcode)

Either the diagnostics is shittier on hers, or I'm too stupid to use the tool, but I can't get enough useful snapshot figures off it to make an informed judgement what to do next.

I started checking the hoses between the MAF and the turbo, but then monsoon season started.

Took the Zafira for its MOT, which it passed   :y

Although with 13 advisories it's definitely time to show the old girl some love or I suspect I'll be in for a nasty failure next year!  ;D

Very nice motor Al  :y.

I looked for a 320/350cdi before I bought the yank, couldn't find one that didn't look ropey however so gave it up. That one looks a beaut!

Well, as an update to the auxiliary battery...

The new battery wasn't flat after three days whereas the old one would barely last three minutes...

Reasonably confident that the battery was the problem. As suspected.

Looked at the replacement intake manifold-cum-rocker cover, and scratched my head as to why all 6 inlet feeds were set out in 2 rows of 3, rather than in line.

Had to go looking at images of the head on egay to work it out.  Seems half the inlets have a longer route through the head.

Driven it back from Yorkshire with the tin tent ( Boroughbridge) after a week of walking & enjoying a few drinks & meals in a few terrific pubs mostly on cruise control all the way home 24mpg 👍

Is that the one with 16 plugs? if so, that service plan sounds reasonable value TBH, considering its main dealer blah blah.  Plus suits the CBA that inflicts us all as we age ;D

Flip side, it has little value left, so maintaining MB history is probably a non issue.

Car looks tidy enough.  Looks a bit smaller in back than I remember for S Class, but guessing all Bro's were LWB maybe?

Hope it serves well, and EU4 petrol currently doesn't pay to have statues of important historical figures removed by that retard Khan I believe?

Good luck with it  :y
Ta :y

It's the later M273, not without its foibles but 383bhp vs 306 of the earlier M113 lump. The 7 speed box should help with the consumption somewhat... rolls down the road at about 1,500 rpm. And yup, it's the swb version. ;) The extra is just more to park.

The service plan is tempting, if only from a CBA perspective...

What's not to like. :y

A nice looking car for not a lot of money. MY CLS 500 (double banana shape car) was from 2005 and came with the 306 BHP cooking lump. Still had plenty of grunt though.

Good choice. :y

Took the front bumper and A/C condensers off the boxster and confirmed my suspicion that the n/s rad i leaking.
Chucked the condensers in the bin as they were rotten as a pear.
New pattern rad is less than £80, so nothing too major.
