Just an update
belt kit fitted, set up just by eye, using the marks on the camcover. Won't have the tool I need till tomorrow.
Anyhow, after the belt was fitted, I turned the engine over by hand a few times. I've known harder V6's to turn, which made me a little concerned.
But I could feel the compression as I kept going round.
Now for the compression test (with a charged battery!) :-/
2-4-6 bank, compressions are all fine as expected.
1-3-5 bank, compressions are definately lower on a couple of cylinders, but still just in the green.
Not sure if setting the belt up properly with the kit will help? I'm certainly not gonna start it until I've done that, I chickened out.
What are the thoughts... will it run? Shall I turn the key :-/
I'm prepared to hedge my bets that it will run, but may well have a slightly lower compression on those two - maybe the valves have just skimmed, enough to disturb their seating by a tiny amount?
Thoughts please!
