INSURANCE & MILEAGE
« on: 16 December 2007, 19:49:53 »

My current insurers that I am now with for a 3rd year have a limit on my mileage >:(, which I have known about, but kind of ignored. Spoke to them to give my current mileage, they checked with insurers and they said I had exceeded twice on both previous years, But as I had told the broker I had to go to Scotland several times, both years, hence the high mileage.

However, that means I am limited to 250 miles per month and I am not really sure how much it would cost to have a higher mileage per year, bearing in mind the inurance is/was £633.00 this month :(, fully comp., but the annoying thing is we know, but they probabaly don't know that you can't get the irmscher bits any more, so if someone prangs me badly, it'll end up being a right off ;D ;D >:(

Is it a limited mileage insurance policy as such, or have you just advised them of your estimated annual mileage?

Pretty sure it's only based on what I originally told them a couple of years ago, when I first took out the p[olicy with them, but then they did say when I spoke to them on Friday that they would charge more if I increased my mileage >:(...They said the insurance premium is low due to the mileage and would be higher if done more mileage >:(

I have a limited mileage policy on the kit car and have to provide the mileage every year at renewal. That way they know if I've exceeded it and there is a clause in the policy that voids it if I've exceeded the mileage limit.

I wonder if that's why so many kit cars have such unreliable speedos? :-X

If you claim, they will ask for the last MOT and work it out pro rata.
