Useless piece of junk has blown its load  >:(

Got home from work, and it decided to dump a shit load of coolant  >:(

Looks like its running down the front from behind the crank pulley, so not sure if coming forward from cooler, if if an unrelated issue from water pump  >:(

I've used it on the pavement outside, which is tarmac and it was ok.

Whipped the plenum off, can't see anthing wrong with what we've done, all looks dry around the new cooler.

I then took off the cambelt cover, and it seems to be coming out from around water pump area.  Whipped out water pump, and whilst the seal doesn't look that good, not sure that its actually leaked.

If the top of the V is dry, and there was coolant coming from behind water pump, not sure what else it could be.

Therefore, I'm going up dealer to get another pump, and see what happens then...

water pump would have been under sudden increased pressure since you fixed the oil cooler. SO, if it was already weak, now was the time to blow a big wobbly.

On the plus side, at least the cambelt is noce and clean. ;D

So, is this wreck, sorry lovely car ready for sale now then?

The cambelt (and tensioners) look fairly new, like most things on this motor, shame they didn't change water pump at same time as it would have saved me a job.

Still needs a rad switch, and waiting for logbook to turn up.  If Tunnie is available, I may change brake fluid for the hell of it and for completeness...

After changing waterpump, Project TB1 has been over to Aylesbury and back (around 60m trip). Looks OK, but will check coolant level tomorrow.

Well, happy to report that it hasn't lost any more coolant :D

So, the last of the 'dirty' jobs are:
Rad switch
Pad sensor

Then just a damn good clean...

Knackered pad sensor replaced, MID reprogrammed to match car spec.

Something to do with adjusting the volume, depending on your speed??  If it has this feature  :-/

Its a CAR300 radio, no such luxuries. Anyway, speed/volume adjustment is user changable on those radios that support it...

I have 2 rad switches, neither work. I have put them in boiling water and stuck a multimeter across the pins in all combinations but everything is open circuit  >:(

Does anyomne have a spare radiator switch, 3 pin variety, ident XA knocking around that they can get to me quickly?

Dunno, its in the car, will have a look in the morning and let you know, think its the one for no aircon which is why the fans worked constantly, but i was quite happy with this as i had just changed the oil cooler ( like youself) and it kept the temp bang on 90 all the time whilst all the crud was being flushed out. Yous if you want it, happy to help you guys when i can

Checking EPC, the aircon/non aircon still use same switch (EPC is slightly confusing wrt this, hence dealers asking - but checking the part nos, they are same). However, there are 2 different switches depending on chassis number - mine needs the XA one.
