Omega Electrical and Audio Help / one dip beam bulb keeps blowing
« on: 07 December 2017, 17:20:34 »
The passenger side dip beam bulb, keeps blowing on my wifes 1995 2.0 omega estate. It is OK for a couple of months then it just goes. I have checked the earth and power lead both seem ok and tight.  Has anybody else had this problem and if so what did you do to solve it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Omega General Help / Gear box level washer
« on: 11 November 2017, 09:23:15 »
Hi does anyone know where I can get the washer for the level plug? Vauxhall have said it is no loner available.  If I cannot get one, I read in the maintenance section about re-annealing it, is this as simple as heating it till cherry red or is there a method to doing it?

Thanks

Hi is there anyone near to me I live in Paisley, that could change a gearbox on a 2001 2.2 Estate?. I can get the replacement box. I am willing to help with the job if needs be, the car can be left for the job to be done.  I don't have anywhere at my house to do it. If there is someone what sort of price am I looking at for it to be done? I have just been quoted a price from a Automatic gearbox specialist that is nearly three times the price, the car is worth.

Thanks in advance.

General Discussion Area / One of those days with my Omega
« on: 02 November 2017, 18:58:25 »
Well I have had one of those days. where everything that can go wrong will. Got up early this morning, sun was shining so I decided I would change my cam sensor on my 2.2. I went to get my ratchet and couldn't find it where it should be, mangaged to sort another one.  Went to get the cam cover off, aux belt came off great, the one bolt at the bottom left corner decided it was going to put up a fight.  Finally mangaged to convince it to come out.  Sorted out the spark plug cover no problem. Undid sensor connector plug and undid the bolt holding sensor inplace without any problems.  Came to get the sensor out, it didn't want to come out of the hole without a fight, finally it came out.  Put the new one in place, went to bolt it up. You can guess what happened next, the bolt decided to drop out of the socket, even though I had packed the socket so the bolt would not come out, even checked it wouldn't before putting it anywhere near the car.  Spent 2 hours looking all around the timing belt, sprockets and crank pulley. Still  didn't find it.  Turned engine over using a spanner on Crank pulley to check I hadn't dropped somewhere it shouldn't, no nasty noises and engine turned fine.  Got intouch with local Vauxhall, ended up paying £7 for 5 new bolts because cannot just buy 1.  Getting them tommorow.  So if anyone can suggest some other places the bolt might of gone, or if they have had the same experience as me it going missing, let me know how it all turned out.

The annoying thing is that I have done the camshaft cover on the wifes 2ltr without any problems whatsoever, do some work on mine and it goes wrong.  I think the car is possesed.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Omega General Help / TECH II near Gpasgow Scotland
« on: 25 October 2017, 13:44:25 »
Is there anybody who lives near to Glasgow (Paisley would be better still) that has a TECHII. I keep getting the car with spanner light coming on and car revving to 4000 RPM. Turn off car leave for a few minutes, start back up and runs normal no light.  Need codes read.

As suggested am going to check throttle body, also has been suggested could be cam sensor.  It is a 2001 2.2 petrol.

Thanks
Adrian

Hi can anybody help me.  I got a 2001 2.2 petrol last night.  On the way home it suddenly revved to 4000 and the spanner light came on, and it seemed to I assume go into limp mode.  I pulled over and switched the car off. When I started it again the light was out and it drove from Darlington to Glasgow without any problems, gear changes etc all seemed OK.  Where would the best place to look at be?  I am going to try the pedal trick today and hope it works, otherwise looking at getting a "My Naff Code Reader" to hopefully find a code, if it works on this year and model.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I know the doors are a direct swap but can anyone tell me if the wiring is the same from the thick black connector to the window motor, central locking, etc on 1995 and later models. I have some doors to go on my 95 model from a 2000 one.  Just wondered if the wiring loom was like for like or needs new door one swapping for my old one from the doors I am taking off.

Hope this makes sense. :D

Thanks in advance for any help.

Omega General Help / headlight unit change on 1995 model
« on: 16 April 2017, 11:41:58 »
Hi can anyone tell me if later model headlight units are a straight swap for my 1995 estate?  I have ones in that are 2 seperate H1 bulbs, would prefer the single bulb (think it is H4) units.  The connection is one single black round plug. I know that later models are interchangeable with each other, done it before but not sure on the older ones being able to use later models.

Thanks for any help.

General Discussion Area / Looking to get a 2.2 petrol omega
« on: 04 March 2017, 09:10:19 »
Hi
I am looking at getting a Omega Estate (been without a Omega for too long now). I seem to be able to find plenty of 2.2 petrol ones. Are the 2.2 easy to look after maintenance and other jobs, like a 2.0ltr.  Also looking at 2000 + models, will a code reader be any good on these? I will be wanting to tow a 750kg trailer with it aswell.

Hope someone can help.  I have had the 2.5 both in estate and saloon, the other half has a 2.0ltr Estate now which seems ok to drive.

Thanks for any advice.

I have a 1995 2.0Ltr 16V estate, that has I believe Treves or whatever they are called calipers. Can someone tell me if I can do a direct Lucas Brake calipers change for the front off any model later than 1995, or will they not work.  I have a sticking caliper on passenger side, but can only find lucas calipers available from later models.

Thanks in advance for all help.

Omega General Help / code reader and clearer for 2.2 petrol
« on: 13 October 2016, 23:01:05 »
Can anyone tell me if there is a cheapish code reader/clearer for 2.2 petrol engines?  I am looking at getting another omega and can find loads of 2.2 but was told it is hard to find out codes for them, with a reader.

Thanks in advance.

Hi can anyone tell me if this box from a N reg estate will fit a S reg saloon?  I bought it to go on my estate which is now off the road but my saloon has now started blowing on the same box same side.  Will it be too short to long or just not fit?

Eternal who I got it from. show this box as a saloon but the embossed (#17235) they say is for the estate.  Both are 2.5 V6 petrol, auto's.

Thanks for the help.

Omega General Help / Eternal Exhaust Central Silencer
« on: 23 November 2010, 21:13:08 »
Hi it might seem a silly question, but could any body tell me which one of these I need for the drivers side centre box on my 1995 2.5 Auto saloon, also the same one and side for my 1998 2.5 Auto Estate?

From this site
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Eternalcar/_i.html?_nkw=omega&submit=Search&_sid=239919514

Or even direct from Eternal's own website?
http://store.eternalcar.com/exhaust-systems-vauxhall-c-1_2601.html?page=3&language=en&sort=2a

The ebay site looks cheaper aswell?

Thanks in advance for all the help.
