I'm not pilot, but that plane from impact to standstill doesn't look far.

Well done to pilot I guess.

Somehow I think landing 100 yards SHORT of the runway, on a soft surface, such that you rip the main undercarriage off, when in front of you is 2 miles of prepared surface, does not deserve a "well done"

At least he/she managed to miss the perimeter road or it would be a much much sadder outcome .. but I think someone will have some very serious questions to answer on why they were so short.

:)

An airport worker told the BBC the pilot on the Boeing 777 had said he had lost all power, and had been forced to glide the plane into land.

....... so I commented as he walked past that it must be nice to be above the law when it comes to buying parking tickets. .....

Similar to the copper I was next to at the lights who was finishing his text. I caught his eye, shook my head and tutted & slapped wrist. The look said up yours! :-?

Little lift up flap on scuttle, passenger side, where pollen filter goes in...
? Have they moved it from Astra G to Astra H? Pollen filter lives behind the glove box on an Astra G :)

« on: 12 January 2008, 20:42:05 »
This reminds me of a bloke I used to work with, who had taken his resignation letter (where he used to work) to work with him on a disc so he could print it off at work on the night shift.
Opened up his letter - checked it was OK, so pressed print!
Nothing happened! :( So he pressed print again .... still nothing.
Pressed print another few times >:(  then thought to look to see where the PC was printing to.
It was going to a printer in a locked office that he couldn't get access to on his shift. :(
He presented his resignation letter to anti-Personnel dept the following day ....... they'd already read it! :-?

Auto box is less economical and engine never gets hot. Must be permanently running rich.

Agree completely, plus the fact she only ever has 2 throttle positions .... ALL the way DOWN or ALL the way UP! There's rarely 'owt in between. :(
It's not that brilliant on a run though - for a 1600. We went to the Scottish Highlands the other summer and I measured the consumption from tank to tank on the way there. The best we saw was 37/38 mpg, which although isn't too bad I expected to see more.
