I wish I'd had chance to respond to the idea that I only had a CSE wood qualification to my name before the thread was locked.  :-X

I always had you down as an (ex) Engineer in the Royal Navy, not carving out the ships, but hey ho.  :-\

Rangie's thread went off track so he'll have to start a new one when he's completed his course. An OOF thread going off topic, how unusual.  :)

Thanks for that ..... Indeed, they'd stopped hoisting the main engines a good few years before I signed on the dotted line  :y

Sorry about that. I reported it as out of 37 posts, 35 of them have been deliberately inflammatory. Long overdue a permanent ban imho :-X

Does an A in metalwork O level trump a CSE in wood work?  ;D

You would certainly like to think so ;)

I know there aren't many other people qualified to drive a snow plough down a live runway, so there's also that...

Which is nice.

Actually need four hands... One two steer, one to change gear, one to operate the gubbins and one to answer the two radios :D

All whilst doing 40km/h a foot off the rear corner of the plough ahead.

All this distracted driving nonsense is, er, nonsense  :D

I liked the bus (dolmush sp?)  drivers in Turkey ... they drove, collected fares, gave change, spoke to passengers all while on a hand held phone!  :y

With about 30 passengers in a 12 seater minibus

.

The last one I did at least 10 years ago the course presenter asked each attendee what vehicle they were driving when I replied a Subaru he simply raised his eyebrows,  Range Rover should go down equally as well its nice & early in the morning in December & there's a lovely pub near the venue so a nice lunch  afterwards for me & wifey , may even pop into Peterborough afterwards as she's hinted what she wants for Christmas, Andy B do you do any carvings ? Only I thought a nice plaque with the date of the course would look good on the garage wall..
😃😄😆

I wasn't qualified to drive a snowplough, but it seems I was qualified to operate one of these monstrosities ...  "MRD" - Mechanical Runway Deicer

2 Derwent jet engines strapped to the front of a 3000 litre fuel bowser.. limited to 60% power or you blew the bowser backwards ... did more damage by melting /lifting/blasting off large lumps of tarmac than anything else... generally melted lying snow which instantly re-froze to sheet ice .....  bloody stupid system .. but as a young Air Eng it was "get out there and do it ..... "   :(

How about a metal disc that I can cover the lens of the speed camera in question ? Or should I leave it to whoever it is round this way setting fire to them ? 😁

no it's true.
I know you've met the general public; many of them are easily distracted by their own breathing. Having to employ physical skills and make conscious decisions at the same time is beyond them
