My Christmas dinner was spot on, probably aided by the fact I was not feeling great, so I just had a small taste of most of it, rather than a mountain of food.

But Christmas Pudding? No thank you. Why on earth would anyone want to eat dried up fruit is way beyond me.... ;)

Agreed. Swmbo likes Christmas Pud for some unfathomable reason, but she does make me a sublime sherry trifle for dessert at Christmas.
I have never eaten anything with dried fruit in it, apart from giving it a brief try when I was in short trousers.

And for about the tenth year in a row, I didn't get to open pressies on Christmas Day :(
You are obviously allergic to Christmas, just ignore it next year.

Can I use that excuse next year too please Uncle Stemo
I thought it was me that was the miserable bastard?

Just been to the tip with all the Christmas wrappings and stuff. As I threw it into the big skip, I wondered just how much turkey was in there. About half a ton, probably 😂

I imagine Aldi will have quite a few turkeys in their skip if reports are to be believed  ;D
I just made a curry with what remained of ours ,plus peppers and onion (so very healthy)

Just been having a read of that. Tesco and Morrisons too. Yuk!
We got our crown at Asda and, even thought the use by date was 26th, it was fine.

our's was frozen, purchased weeks ago, our meat freezer sits at about -30c ,so no issues there.
the pork, gammon, bacon we got fresh from a local farm shop that i've been using for many years ,
the problem with buying "fresh" meat etc  is you have to trust it's been cleaned ,butchered and stored correctly at all stages along the delivery chain .

The 'stored correctly' bit is the one I can see them falling down on. I've worked in warehouses and foodstuffs get opened and half eaten, smashed with the fork lift and left in a corner till someone says "What's this ere then ?"

Yes, I don't really understand that. You can get 21 day matured steak in Asda, but it still looks red and fresh. Perhaps red meat and game birds are different from poultry? I'm sure someone on the forum will know.

My Dad used to shoot so this was a common sight for me growing up as well, and he always used to say that you left pheasants hanging until you saw the maggots appear.  :)

Why this dosn't work with chicken and turkey though I've no idea.  :-\

I've got a couple of 'dressy' shirts that I don't get the chance to wear very often. The one I'm wearing seems to have shrunk a bit since last year. Perhaps it's a bit damp in the wardrobe.  :-[

 :y :y

We all went out for a meal yesterday and  I found my shirt had done the very same thing ....  :o ;D

From my relatively recent experience, this is still very much the case :-X
