hydraulic seals
« on: 01 February 2009, 21:50:04 »

20 odd years back SWMBO bought me a trolly jack, it even came with a spare set of seals. So, when I was swapping over over my 'new' alloys and the jack decided to die on me, I thought .... 'no problem, I know exactly where the spare seal kit is, I'll fit it later ...'
I've stripped the jack down to componant level, got the cup seal out of the bag (I've known exactly where it was all these years ::)) and the f***er disintegrated on me!!
I've had a look on the net but can't find where I might get a seal.
It's a Master Mechanic TJ4000 - that's what Machine Mart use isn't it? -
I know I can buy another jack ..... but I want to repair this one!
Any ideas of where I can get a seal .... I've even got pictures and part numbers. ;D  ;D

I would start by ringing Pirtek. They do an awful lot of hydraulic stuff and should be able to point you in the right direction if not supply the bits themselves.

Look up the yellow pages for companies like city seals and bearings if you dont get any joy from anywhere else.

HTS came up trumps John. £6-90  :-? for a 6 x 12 x 6 mm cup seal and I've now got a fully functioning trolley jack again! If this lasts as long as the last one I'll be too old to use a trolley jack.  ;) New oil courtesy of a famous brand of beanz!  :y  :y  :y

Not an area you'd want to go to on your own at night! I noticed that even the alsations roamed round in pairs! ;D  :y  :y

I'll have to take your word for it. There's a notice on HTS's door though reminding you not to leave your sat-navs in the car.  :-?

Never had a problem myself, I had a guard to look after my van whilst I wasn't in it. ;D
