Omega General Help / folding key conversion

Has any one tried these I found them on that site its just a civer and a blank key according  to the ad you just need to get the key cut and take the pcb out of the old key along with the chip put it all together
Just wondering if any one had tried them

General Car Chat / A SAD DAY

  Wellits been a sad day today I have sent my Omega to the breakers and I am already wishing I hadnt
It had been sat on the drive for a year and a bit due to me using the Pajero ,the omega was leaking oil from the gearbox other than that it was ok I last had it running abouit a year ago to turn it atound on the drive since then it jusy sat there with the battery disconnected .
 The other day I reconnected the battery and turned the key and it started almost on the first go I was really impressed
But she has gone now thet rold me it may get put in too auction instead of being broken
Thank you to everyone past and present for making owning and looking after the Omega such a pleasure
Maybe one day  I will buy another

I know I have been told to change the Antenna and sorry to repost without doing this yet .
 The thing is  I have now put the antenna in the back of the car , it was in the front there was an extension from back to front .
I am now picking up 6/7 sats I have repositioned the car and been for a drive around with the unit set, and it  worked it knew where I was and guided me home ,
 I checked the position Long and Lat and it matched my other sat nav so I assume the antenna is working ,does this sound ok so far  :question
Porblem  I have is when the ignition is turned off and back on the car looses its position and says I am about 15 miles away it does this every time even after setting car position .

Any ideas whats going on here then ,my sat nav is acting very strange I have reset the car position a few times as it seems to loose where I am.
I put the sat nav on to go to work (only to see if it is working),as I said  I reset the cars position and it seemed to be ok but after a couple of turns it was showing the position to be about 12 miles from where  I was .
I was in Bicester and it was telling me  I was in woodstock I checked and it was telling me it could see 4 sats so why is it doing this .
I have not changed the antenna yet as I am not convinced it is the problem ,or would it still point to this being the problem  :-?

Does anyone else have this prblem, every now and again the magazine ejects itself.
It seems to do it when the ignition has been off and turned back on, it can be ok for a week or two then it just ejects , and only when there is bugger all to listen to on the radio , it means pulling over and pushing it back in    then its ok and behaves

Does anyone use one of these tape adapters in there car I am just wondering if it will work ok and if the wire will cause any problems when it is inserted in to the head unit  :question
I dont want tobuy one and then try to use it and find it all gets stuck in the Head unit

I  have just brought a carin system to put in to my car and I have not seen where any of the bits go could any one tell me where it all goes in the car  I know where the screen goes but other than that no ideas .

Any advice before I condem it please  .
 This is very tempermental when it was working  ,it is now coming up with cd error it is showing there is a disc in .
 I have had it out and left it out of the car all morning this used to reset the error but its not happening this time . Any suggestions  before it is sent to the big skip in the sky with my boot behind it  :-/

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Kenwood volume control

I have a Kenwood 6024 head unit fitted in place of the standard head unit , and have a couple of little problems .
1 I have noticed that if I use the volume control on the steering wheel the volume seems to have a limit on it ie it wont go up any  higher but if I use the control on the head unit it will go louder  :-?
2 The other problem is somtimes the display on the mid for the stereo goes off and I have to pull the head unit out unplug the display adapter plug it back in and it works again there does not appear to be any loose connections just wondering if it is temp related
 Any ideas anyone please

Hello only had this car three weeks so still finding little problems which mainly seem to be electrical   When I picked up the car I was told the headlamp bulb had just gone and he had not had chance to replace it not a problem, got home and found bulb ok but fuse had blown replaced fuse and ok since . Next problem was rear light failure warning was on,checked bulbs and all ok but looking at the lampholders they had been modifed ie fog lights had been wired seperatly and the switch was also modifed looks like something to do with the towbar wiring this is now all back to standard. the only problem now is if I turn lights on the rear fog lights come on now and again and have to be switched off they stay off ok but if the lights are turned off end back on the fog lights come back on any one got any ideas please

Right I think I have at last sorted the poor reception out on my radio . The stereo has been in and out like a yoyo in the last couple of days   but at least it goes back in  ok   The problem started the first time I took the original stereo out, since then its been a bit tempermental   when I fitted the head unit in I now have fitted I replaced the areial connector and all was ok for a couple of days since then its been in and out trying to sort it. Today I got a bit miffed with it not working again so pulled it out again and cut back the lead to reconnect but still not as good as it should have been ,so stripped it back a bit more and while doing this the center conductor pulled out of the insulation by about 5cm so I have now cut right back past this and reconnected it back together and it is the best it has been since I had the car. As the areial lead is very stiff/brittle I am thinking of replacing it question is does it go right back to the areial amp which if I am correct is located under the parcel shefl  :question
