I also had an inner wall threads sticking out - got the wishbone done and a trip to WIM made driving a pleasure.

Full geometry setup is a good choice - from what I hear omega are known for being knocked out of line.

Thx

Omega General Help / Known Faults on 4 POT 2 Litre pre-facelifts
« on: 19 January 2010, 14:19:21 »
I have had my 4 pod for 14 months now and I reckon the following as known problem areas (only a few I might have read / experienced)
1.      Wishbones
2.      Cam Sensor
3.      Door Rust
4.      Cambelts and hence the reduced interval to change them i.e. every 4 years

I am after a comprehensive list of known failures of these vehicles so I am well prepared for future shocks

Requesting every one to contribute

Thanks in advance for your contribution

Andy, Many thanks for your response.

I am sorry but being a novice, I will have to instructed how to get to a camsensor in order to take a picture. Can help here in reaching the camsensor as I would want to know which one I am using i.e. mrk1 or mrk2.

PS: I have partial service history and will look thru the documents to check if it was ever replaced. I do not think I will be lucky though. >:(

Thanks, Dave.

Any other opinions before I discard parts claimed to be manufactured by Siemens?

Omega General Help / Cam sensor: Pattern Parts or VX Genuine
« on: 18 January 2010, 14:38:58 »
My car now needs a new cam sensor and I need help on deciding if I need to go with a genuine one or a pattern part replacement.

My predicament goes further as VX decided to replace the old cam sensor (part number: 90458252) with a new part (part number: 93171450) and I do not know if I have the old one or a new one fitted to my car.

VX, I am made to believe does not do the old part hence it is only available via pattern parts, the new part would need a new loop to be soldered onto existing wiring thus increasing the cost of parts.

The cost of latter version of spares including cam sensor and wiring loop works out to be around £120 from a VX dealer while the pattern parts (new with 1 year guarantee) cost fraction of the cost.

Here are the links for a pattern old part number which will probably be the cheapest solution

4.      http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk/store/product.php?productid=16364&cat=1708&page=1 - GENUINE SIEMENS sensor

Any experiences here of replacing a pattern cam sensor and especially the old model number (90458252) & background of why VX replaced it with a new part will be received with gratitude.

Secondly, new part pattern number links are

Please help me make the right choice as I haven’t got a clue and use the car very less i.e. less than 5k miles a year and haven’t had a trouble free time till date since I bought it a year ago. I am unable to decide if I need to spend more money on this or buy a new one – love the drive when it goes smooth but otherwise the problems do cost a bob as I am not handy and cannot store tools owing to lack of space

Thanks, Mate.

A silly question for all the experts though, why is my EML light not switched on allthe time informing the user of a stored fault code.

10
Right,

I have now checked the codes on my EML and the only code I get is 92. Looking up the maintaince section it translates to

92 Camshaft sensor Incorrect signal

Now, here is the wierd thing, this morning the vechicle started fine and there is no EML light on the dashboard. What does this mean? Any pointers / help is appericiated as always.

Many thanks,
Suhas

Mine was first registered late 95, as they did not do 01, 51 series then I reckon they just moved on to the next digit.

12
Yep! It is a N reg 95 which never misfired until now and I am clueless

13
Thanks, will try tomorrow, had to leave the car at a friends place.

Finally, the light which comes on is the one in the speedometer per the video it is one on the right on the flashing light

14
Thanks, does the paper clip work on the basic GLS 4 pod model?

Omega General Help / Misfiring and Yellow light on the dashboard
« on: 15 January 2010, 23:38:47 »
I have been thanking my good fortune, my N reg did not give me any trouble in this weather until this evening!

My mig started fine but then it decided to misfire, the misfiring continued but I was interested in parking it as a safe place few hundred yards away and when I forced the engine to start and manually push it into drive the EML came on and the misfiring is continuing.

Can anyone please help me understand what it might be and why the sudden misfiring?

Thanks in advance.
