Hi Chris.

I'v just taken the red and black plug and bulb off the old one and there's no way the bulb and fitting it is going to fit the new headlight..on the new one there is just a hole where the bulb goes and a spring clip to hold it in and the two wires ..live and earth..brown earth and yellow live. and there is no silver box underneath, but all the holes where it should be are there

I brought them because the reflector in one was moving about and had dropped down inside..

Can the new ones still work without all the bits that are on the old ones..one thing these new ones have is the lens is held on with metal clips

ebay link..sorry it's so long.

Please excuse me if I don't explain this to well.. :-[

Right here goes..I brought two headlights off of Ebay, not Vauxhall but identical to the originals I have on my 98 2.5 elite, trouble is on the originals there is this cap with three screws holding it in place and under this is a red and black plug..will this fit the ones I brought off ebay which have all the same holes and grooves..in fact this red and black plug seem to be the only difference.. also is there a bulb under this red and black plug ??

Or have I brought a heap of s**t ::) hope not :'(

Love the Haynes Manual which says "remove three screws and remove headlight"  Yea.. like f**k it does..

Dave,
 The airbags are not in the doors, they are in the drivers and passengers back rest, if you have a look at the sides of the back rest you'll see the panel's, it's the airbag sensor that's in the door. :y

The lens can be taken off fairly easy..you need a hot air gun, I used the wife's air drier played around the lens edge where the black glue is..and made one good HID headlight from two F***ed up ones.

The bar in the Photo with the red arrow is the bar your looking for..the round bar like a piece of "welding wire" that you are pulling on is further back and has nothing to do with removing the panel.

Try holding a small mirror in there to see where the bar is.

A tip : when you have the panel out...put a cable tie around the bar before the panel goes back in, then if you need to have the panel out again just pull on the cable tie.

Passenger side isn't too bad, I did it in about an hour. Once you have removed the door handle and took the three torq screws off you can manouvre the whole unit to the opening in the door and just unscrew the two screws without removing and unclipping everything.
Worth reading this before attempting to remove the door card:-

This what I did..also the solenoid's are universal. I took mine from a O/S scrap door and put it in the N/S door on my car, just needs turning around
