I'm after an idler bearing for my sons partners car
« on: 26 August 2020, 11:07:23 »

I'm after an idler bearing for my sons partners car. Needs to be non plastic but metal. 70mm x 26mm maybe 25mm will be fine and centre hole 17mm.

Anyone know of a place where I can order one of these?

Thanks

What's it for?

Application details required as approximate sizes aren't going to work ;)

If you can remove the old bearing then the likes of Simply Bearings will have off the shelf parts available.

There should be a four digit number on the side of the bearing (plus I would expect it to be followed by 2RS for the two rubber seals) race which tells you what is needed

So far as I can tell Honda only sells whole belt tensioner pulley.

That one in the link Al, is the same one he purchased but its an 80mm and not a 70mm that came off the engine the other day.

Here do...

The other question to ask is if the correct pulley was previously fitted, as there's a clear distinction between the Civic and Jazz pullies ;)

It was on the car when she bought it, but it is looking more likely the wrong one was fitted at some point Al.

Thanks for the link. I'll have a good look on there.

Although the exact sizes and any numbers on the part are what an industrial bearing supplier would use. They never ask what it's for.

True, but the question implied a specific purpose and gave the overall dimensions without actually specifying what it was for.

An aux belt idler pulley is likely to be somewhat different to a timing belt one. For example.  :y

Sounds like Andy is sorted either for a pulley or for a source of the bearing.

In light of the apparent differences between what was fitted and the new part supplied, I would consider using using the new part supplied as long as it physically fits :y

Sounds like the OP is sorted. But for reference, we've always found the company below to be very good for supplying bearings for various applications.

 https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/

Last time I used them was for some phosphor bronze bearings for an old cement mixer.  :D
