Omega General Help / Problem with heating
« on: 26 October 2009, 08:42:39 »
Ive got a problem with my blowers only blowing luke warm heat rather than the usual eye burning heat it used to.

The passenger side dash vent and foot vent seem to put out good heat, but every other vent is barely warm?  :-/ I've re-bled the system but still no change

Also, i dont think my climate pump is working correctly, it doesnt look to be spinning very well when the car is on and im sure its causing my aux belt to squeek.

Anyone encountered this before?

Omega General Help / Re: Tensioner noise?
« on: 18 October 2009, 15:55:29 »
OK, wee update!

pulled everything apart earlier, the water pump pully had been grinding slightly on the casing, but other than that i couldnt find any source of rubbing.

Timing belt tensioners seemed ok (and i quickly adjusted them whilst i was there to make sure ;D)

However... i have noticed something that doesnt seem right to me at all, the pulley on the bottom right hand side (i think im right in saying its to do with air con/climate control or something?  :-?) is barely spinning and very "jumpy" like its sticking, that isnt normal operation is it? If its the case, then the belt squeeking i could be hearing could be from it jumpin on that pulley whenever it "sticks"  :-/

Could that also explain why my heaters arent heating up properly and the air doesnt seem to flow too great out of them even on full?

Sir Drink-a-lot - Had me stumped aswell, was all happy that it was quiet again then it started!  >:(

sundane - i had thought about the water pump, tried spinning it by hand etc but couldnt hear any strange noises - at 500 miles i would be dissapointed if it failed!

Looks like im going to take everything apart tomorrow and check the waterpump and timing belt tensioners, see if i can figure out where the noise is comming from

Just been one of those days tbh!.. the aux belt i ordered turned out to be the wrong one, and my golfs starter motor decided it didnt want to engage anymore  ::)

Omega General Help / Tensioner noise?
« on: 17 October 2009, 14:13:56 »
I had a bit of tensioner noise (or thats what it sounds like anyway) and found that the aux belt tensioner had dried out, so i repacked it was quite for a while, until the car heated up and a noise "squeeling" appeared  :-/

Ordered a new aux belt tensioner and fitted that today, staerted the car up and all was quiet again - until the car heated up, same noise came back... now im pretty sure its not the tensioner, but whatever it is its going in time with the engine.

Also just changed the timing belt and tensioners(GM parts), and tbh it sounds like its comming from top left hand side - where the tensioner for the timing belt sits!

Wee bit of background info - also fitted new water pump (think it was a circoli brand?), and my crankshaft pully looks a bit "odd" i.e. the outer ring doesnt appear to be level anymore.

Once the noise start, it doesnt go away, despite how hot or cold the engine is, from first thing in the morning until im home at night.

Anyone any clues on what it could be? Would it be worth pulling it all apart again and checking that timing belt tensioner?

Just foud it strange that it dissapears whenever i strip it down, but as soon as it gets back up to temp it starts again.

P.S. my cam covers are also leaking again (my own fault for buying ebay ones), possibly contamination from the leak?  :-/

cheers for any pointers and info guys, seems all i do on here lately is ask questions about this bloody car!  :( lol

thanks for the suggestions guys   :y

Will try the servo reset first before redoing the coolant.

Brake fluid was low, think it might be leaking some - advisory on MOT was corroded rear brake lines, so ill have to get under it and check just how bad they are then probably replace them. I knew the light flickering would be something like that lol

Cheers again  :y

Omega General Help / A Few Problems
« on: 05 October 2009, 13:27:43 »
Having a few problems with the mig over the past day or 2.

1. The handbrake light keeps dimly flashing/staying on when im driving but the handbrake handle is fully down. Im going to check the switch but asking incase its a common thing that i dont know about  :y

2. My heaters dont seem very warm. They used to burn my eyeballs out when it was set to HI, now its just luke warm air thats comming through  :-/ the coolant was recently changed, engine temp sits fine at 95ish... any thoughts on what could be wrong?

thanks in advance!
