Last time I took a full seat set in a saloon it was like this.

Rear bench pieces in boot, at an angle...

Front seats moved all the way forwards, and sat up,  and the "new" front seats put in behind them facing down and backwards , with cardboard protecting the rear of the existing front seats , and the headrests over the rear parcel shelf...

this was in a senator though.,

then a VERY uncomfortable drive for 65 miles to get them home....

I found myself parked next to a Monaro 5.7V8 at tesco this weekend.

I've never really been taken with the images of them in brochures and web sites...

but actually , in the flesh, it's a very nice looking, and sounding , little (well, okay, slightly not little) car....  lovely..... (nice chap who owned it didn;t mind me drooling a little... )

I do find myself wondering how much fun Mark and Omegatoy would have cramming the V8 into an Omega....

and volunteering my poorly elite for the process  ;)

(someone else will have to donate the engine, and shares in BP )

Well, My place is less than perfect... but I'm quite willing to volunteer it ...

even if it's on another occasion....  I have other Vx related jobs to be doing... like new front discs and calipers on the Sintra. which is also about due a Cam belt.... (same 3.0 V6 , transversely mounted)   so we could always do them,  amongst friends, as it were, on another occasion ....

I'm always quite willing to  have a party....  cam belts or no cam belt...    :D

Or perhaps.......  and this is just an idea....   maybe we could rent/hire a warehouse or vacant industrial unit  or something for a weekend.... collectively it might be cheap enough to make sense...  i have no idea... it just occurred to me... i haven't researched it...

Hmmm... I should add that I posted about my driveway before I read a PM from Mark....

let's not completely mug the chap eh?

but I am formulating a cunning plan....

There MIGHT exist the potential for an Oxfordshire based Cam belt party... depending on who what where and available space....

My drive way is only 1 car wide... but it MIGHT fit up to 3 Omegas in a line on it....  with some shelter, and possibly, with some ingenuity and enough tarpaulin....  cover for 2 , maybe 2 and a half,  out of the three...

(i seem to be recalling that there are some legal issues with doing work on the pavement or road side unless it's an emergency...   so I'm only able to offer space on a distinctly sloping driveway....   (slope along it, not across it.. so Ramps and stands could level things out...  )

however, I'm not as fully equipped as some, nor as physically able...

Brain and ears work fine....  the rest is high mileage wear and tear, and accident damaged.

 There's a thought eh?

Any muso's hereabouts ....  we could come to a mutual arrangement.... you guys take care of My meega..   I'll take care of your noise, sorry, Music,  making requirements...

had about 4 inches here all told......   didn't occur to me to take a picture of my stealth Omega......  a black car pretending , quite succesfully, to be white.....

the Sintra looked like some giant Snow monster,.,,,,

it's noticeably heavier here in Sandford than it is just 2 miles away in Temple Cowley

Both Schools closed, so enforced day off as Child care wasn't arranged , and turned out to be snowed in even worse than we were ... and her poor little Mazda Mx5 is apparently allergic to Snow.

either that or she has no idea how to drive in Snow

so a day off for me, more or less.

Tomorrow however I have to get to work on site at a client's  in Barford St Michael.....   near Bloxham....

and it's not optional.

so i'm hoping the light drizzle turns into proper rain and clears the snow up

having been out and about in it today, I have to say my Elitie estate SUCKS in the snow..... mind you now is the time for me to discover that  the winter mode button seems to be non-functional , the light on it stays on all the time, and no beahvioural difference is noticable no matter how many times i try and press it....   anyone got a replacement kicking about?? (this is the first "real snow" we've had in a couple of years.

My Sintra on the other hand is excellent in the snow...    perhaps something to do with having the V6 sat above the wheels it's driving might be the reason   :y
AND the winter mode button actually works !

(and it has more ground clearance...  not sure if it makes much odds, but it does deal with deep puddles and drifts and slush banking rather easily)

MJ

you're wrong, they are ALL Specifically Illegal.

some have been considered "socially acceptable" in the same way as smoking hash, but have always been still illegal... simple./

iPod use with owned CD's is NOW legal as of January along with  some other modifications allowing a certain amount of fair use ,

(and about bloody time)

Universities and LEA's  have blanket "permission granted"  deals with publishing houses for SOME specific needs, more often, Students are REQUIRED to purchase the texts published on the book list for their courses... either new or Secondhand...

Audio wise, Licence fees for PRS and MCPS and their associated performance fees cover public use of IP audio...  such as music, talikjg books and the like.

specific use for samples to be reproduced outside of a paid performance or replay,  must be cleared on a case by case basis...

Licensing these things is an industry in itself....

Morally they have ALL been the same because they ARE all the same.

Aska record compnay about cassette taping in the 70's and you'll get the whole "Home taping is killing music " screaming match... except that it wasn;t that bad..because it was in comparison in limited numbers...  at least one guy in 10 must have bought the record for him and his mates to be able to tape it.

with Downloading it's one guy in 20 million.

seriously... this was part of the central cause of the Anti Napster cases...   a test track was "released" into the wilds of Napster and in one month, 375,000 separate individuals had downloaded it illegally.

IN THE USA ALONE

While there are any number of fairly piss poor DRm implementations  the concept is one I heartily applaud.

Why.

Coz guys like me only get paid when people actually BUY their music..

Downloading unprotected IP material, be it Video or Music or Software , is THEFT pure and simple.

and I will gladly take anyone out back and explain this principle with a baseball bat.

DRM technologies are designed to try and prevent this, it sadly is poorly done, and rarely foolproof....  and in SOME circumstances, overly intrusive to the user experience... BUT

it's better than simply letting complete self-abusers steal one's hard work and mortgage payments.

yea yea, as a by-product it means a higher faceless corporate entity profits... but in the creative industry,a large proportion of  that is highly likely to end up more spread around in the development of new product.

Musicians , Writers, Camera men, Developers, Producers, Audio Engineers , Graphic Artists, Directors and all their supporting Cats have as much right to get paid for the fruit of their labours as , for example , Mechanical Engineers working for Manufacturing corporations./\]

and that simply doesn't happen when people use P2P networks for file sharing of IP materials , and so on.... and it's a demonstrable fact....   not paranoia...

It's a subject close to my Wallet, and therefore dear to my Heart.

how about going out and finding a deer..... and hitting it with an Omega at 70.....

then we can all have BBQ venison burgers while watching McBurger magic return the meega to pristine, or at least working, condition....  all for 50p and a bag of jelly babies.

I have an f'ing HUGE Gas BBQ to use for that project :D

(that obviously was the mistake I made last year......   Not getting the BBQ ready in time....  or Calling McB instead of Direct Line.......   )

alternatively there's my Elite, In need of Cam belt, water pump, New primary cooling fan, possible oil cooler, and air con condenser....  and gawd knows what else........

should keep you ALL busy for 5 minutes while I make a brew ......
