beat me to it rob   :y
as said the removable fascias are coded to the HU (head unit)  ;) so another one will probally not work
remove the headunit and check plugs at back of unit  :y

Thanks for that  :y
What about putting in the code? Will the display automatically ask for the code or do i have to press 3&5 to activate it?

Cheers Rob
I've got the complete unit in my kitchen
The removable panel wouldn't stay down on the l/h/s so i've now super glued it, hopefully all the pins on the panel will now be in contact with the unit. There's one wiring loom coming out of the hu & i presume that's all that's needed?
To put the code in do i have to press buttons 3&5 for the code to come up on the display screen?
Many thanks

andy the only thing i can suggest is that you remove radio and check that the multiplugs are firmly located, my 600 done exactly what yours is doing i.e lighting up but no code input coming up on screen  :( it ended up that not all the pins were making between the plug and the hu  :y

Cheers for that. What's the 'hu' huh?
What about the removable panel? Would it help if i get another or as Andy said its coded but would it work on mine?
Cheers for any more info

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Delco cdr500e
« on: 02 December 2010, 10:03:21 »
Morning all
Hi. Bought an omega with a Delco CDR500(E) head unit. First thing i noticed was the detachable front panel wouldn't stay on one side so put some blue tack on to secure it. When the ignition is turned on the light behind the volume control button comes on code isn't asked for on display unit. Have the 4 number security code on the unit but don't know how to enter it as no manuals. Am i correct in thinking i have to press nos. 3 & 5 to enter the code? Do i need a new front panel or could the fuse need replacing? So many questions, so many answers!!  :-/ :-/ Cheers  :y

First thing to try is take the door card off & give the motor a good dose of WD40 working it in by pressing the central locking remote, it worked for me & a couple of others on here. But, as will be pointed out from fellow OOFers, it might only be a short term solution  :(

Try eBay for a 'New' solenoid, there were quite a few original motors on there last time i looked & that was only a couple of weeks ago!  :y

Remember to keep us updated on the outcome.   :y

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way ......
Oh what fun it is to have the gearbox working for me!!  :D :D :D

Everything working as it should be & i want to give a special thanks to 'trem' & 'Kneepad'  :-* :-* (in a purely manly way!!)

It wasn't a quick job to do especially under the car on a board in freezing fog BUT hey the autobox selector switch is now clean & working as it should do (fingers crossed as i've only driven it a mile or so but seems fine!)  :) :)

This site is worth its weight in gold and i can't thank you enough!!

Cheers

Andy  :y :y :y

i didn't have any codes as i only have the gls model with the tid display but did have the gearbox warning light on there, the lights next to the gear stick all went on, i could manually select 1st 3rd and reverse, but in auto it would stay in 3rd and i was unable to select sport or snow modes.  Its not hard to do at all, very easy i would say, if you can change your air filter you can do this job.

Cheers Trem it sounds exactly the same as my faults  :y
If i lived round the corner from u i'd be kind enough to let u do the job for me ...... but alas!!  :D :D
