This proving why it's worth driving slower if you see a bus or an ice cream van.

I'm surprised how good the brakes are on something that weighs as much as the Titanic.

If the truck driver was as competent as he looked, he was already off the throttle and covering the brake as he approached the bus because idiots running out from behind them is hardly unusual.
Late night buses you have to be watchful for drunks doing the same.

It was a Cavalier that hit me. After I rode out between two parked cars ::)  That was a genuine teaching moment, and since then I've tried not to be so stupid on the roads.

The road I live on was blocked off at the bottom nearly forty years ago to stop it being used as a rat run from the station. At the same time, the steps opposite the school were blocked off for several years after several children running across the road were hit by cars.

Thinking about it now the driver may actually have been a 'hairy arsed builder' ::)

My 'learning moment' on the road was aged about 12 when I decided I had enough talent to turn right at the T-Junction at the bottom of a very steep hill on my bicycle without slowing down....  ::)

Of course I didn't make it, hit the kerb and catapulted into the hedge!  :o  ;D

What made it worse was that my mates parents drove by and saw what I did.  They stopped, pulled me out of the hedge, dusted me down and sent me on my way with a few stern words ringing in my ears!  ::)  Living in a small town meant that the truth got back to my Mum and Dad pretty quickly so I couldn't make anything up to explain away my buckled front wheel and the hedge scrapes down my face and arm, so more stern words....  :-\

This thick kids bike was off the road until he'd saved enough pocket money to buy a new front wheel.  ::)

Character building!  :)

Now it's a case of the entitled little darlings just chucking their bikes down and just leaving them there to get nicked. That's ok as the parents will just stump up for another one.  :o
