Omega General Help / MV6 passenger door mirror not moving up/down

But moves left/right fine albeit doesn't sound healthy when doing it. Replaced motor with a known good one but no change. Any ideas?

General Car Chat / 3.2 V6 Phaeton

A work colleagues friend is selling his 3.2 petrol Phaeton for a grand. It's on 03 plate, 105k in Black. He said its needs around £800 worth of work (2 × HT leads, can't remember what else). Worth a punt?

Going to take a look at it in the next few days or so. Does anyone of the big issues with these?

I have never owned one and for some reason which I can't explain can't see myself owning one soon. I know modern diesels are much better than they used to be but still $:-\$

Are the running costs more?
Do they still cost more to buy than equivalent petrol models?
Fall in diesel prices, is this long term?

Omegas really are rare now (mint ones anyway) and I'm starting to look at these. Plenty about (not too many 540s though). Cost slightly more than Omega to buy and possibly run but insurance for a V8 is cheaper than an Irmscher Omega.

What do we think about them? TheBoys opinion is not welcome

There is an irmscher Omega round here in a very sorry state. I don't know the owner or whether he wants to sell but he has had it a very long time so I might ask if he wants to sell.

The entire kit would need respraying and I have no experience with this. How much would I roughly be looking at?

Sadly it doesn't have the sport stars so I would have so source them (or my preferred Stila wheels) elsewhere.

With irmscher gear being rare as rocking horse poop, I imagine insurance will take a pounding if you live in London (just got a quote from confused.com and its £300 more).

What needs to be declared exactly. On the confused website its give you the options of a bodykit, front air dam, rear vallance, side skirts, plus a few more.

Does the bodykit option cover everything? Or is it better to list all the irmscher parts item by item?

Where would they source replacement irmscher parts if you were to make a claim?

General Car Chat / Zafira bonnet catch adjustment

The bonnet on my Zafira doesn't open unless someone is pushing down on it - my Omega used to do this which I fixed thanks to the guide on here. I'm guessing it's something similar again but I can't locate the cable. Anyone know?

Mark, Al, Tea Boy? Plenty of Zafira owners here I'm sure.

This probably won't be news to seasoned mechanics but will hopefully help some.

My trolley jack doesn't have one of those fancy rubber pads in the centre to protect the chassis so I have just ordered a hockey puck from eBay for £2.95. Its 75mmx25mm so should be a perfect fit. I have been using off cuts of ply but they split and often need renewing so hopefully this will work better and last longer.

This one is a bit dearer but same thing.

General Car Chat / Vauxhall Zafira oil leak

Going out with the family tomorrow so I thought I'd check the fluid levels. Took a quick look underneath and noticed a big leaky mess. I took out the coil pack to check for oil in the plug wells and it was dry. I am thinking of taking it to Serek however he is a couple of hours away and getting the parts on the day may prove difficult so I need to find the cause of the leak before I head over there.
