So.....how on earth do you remove the radio/multi cd player from the dash.....?
MV6 facelift........
unit has small hole in each corner?
cheers fellas....
-
You need an unlocking key, I think some people have improvised, but can't remember how.
-
Get them from Halfords
-
remove the 4 grubs screws with an allen key and said tools (hunts round for them)
- "Vauxhall double DIN radio removal keys" - £3.99 retail from Halfrauds, Autoleads box, item code 254565
-
If your allen keys are the 'Ball Driver' type with the little ball on the end, you can also use them instead.
Only if you want to save yourself 4 quid though. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Once the grub screws (if fitted) are removed, 4 thin nails will do same as double din removal tools, but will be more fiddly.
-
...because you have to insert the nails one at a time until they kind of 'locate', then push them all outwards slightly, whilst gently levering out the unit with a blunt instrument.
It will be stiff so don't give up. Grab the unit anywhere you can and wriggle it out.
The unit plugs into the metal cage it sits in. This must be removed if you want to replace the headunit.

Another one of those jobs where you could do with a third hand. ::)
-
Or a prehensile nose! :-?
-
Can't you use the old make em yourself with 2 bits of coathanger trick on a facelift?
Guess which prat misplaced the sony removers for his the other day and ended up ripping the centre console out to fit a smartlead.
Had just finished and my lad comes in and says you put em in that box on top of the cupboard with the old radio dad. Grrrrr
-
Yep, coathanger's fine.
Don't you just love 'clever' kids?
-
Indeed sent him to bed with the breather howto see how clever he is on the spanners in the morning.
As they say "No use having a dog and barking yourself."
:)

Blimy......thanks fellas..... i wanna wack a bass bin in the back but after reading some of the other posts i see that there are no pre outs on the back of the unit.....so theres no point doing that then....! i've got the ccr2006....is there a hidden amp anywhere.....or am i stuck with speaker level.....also replacement speakers......any suggestions??? ;)
-
only bose ones have external amp (says bose on cassette door).
new headunit with preouts, good amp if you can't put up with what you have...
-

Hmmm, if you have a working CCR2006 I would be interested, for the right price.
I would also recommend going down the route of an aftermarket headunit with 3 sets of preouts.

I've tried the coat hanger method, but found the large wooden frame of the hanger just does not the small holes of the radio, even with the coat removed from the hanger - which does make it slightly easier, but still no good. ;D
