the biggest faff was extracting the firmware (.fw?) file from the Windows installation. Once I had that I had to create a new script file that loads the firmware when the tuner is initialised . Once set up it just works with no further intervention.I got mythtv working with a dual Hauppage tuner card (on Linux) about 15 years ago. It needs to have the firmware installed each time it is restarted. Can't remember what I had to do to make that happen - I think 'hotplug' was involvedYeah, I want something that is faff free. It has to be Mrs TB friendly.
I haven't tried Kodi
fair enough - I wasn't advocating for putting your photo up, I was questioning whether you were happy to enter your card details. The reason I started this thread was the site I was on wanted me to add credit/debit card details but wanted to verify my age via the QR code/ face pic verification. You don't want the site to have your mug shot but you are happy to give them your card details?
Surely the fact I have a credit card should suffice
I dont agree they should have a pic of my mug even though they say its instantly deleted.
The site they forwarded me to didnt work - once I started to use my phone rather than my PC it didnt manage to do the job either.
QR codes are a way of translating a long string of text & numbers into a non-threatening looking image.
Vaccine passports use the QR code to encode a long string to identify you and your status.
Scammers can use a QR code to obfuscate a web link that you wouldn't normally choose to click on if you could see it as text.
Just saying.
I dont like my picture taken and once on the net then its there forever.
The only legal documents I have come accross so far that require my mug are all our government requirements (Driving licence - Passport - NSI) and so far my mug shot aint on any of them either.
As for my card details they are used every where and I have some degree of protection to get any monies back. (plus issues in my life mean I dont/cant get out to use cash)
