Military paint
« on: 28 November 2016, 14:35:42 »

Just wnadering - has anybody used military paint?
Something like this:
http://www.paints4trade.com/military-vehicle-paint-2151-p.asp?uid=21D1699D-5B09-49C0-A15F-D89537E11A0A

I'm planing to repaint wifes car, and don't want to do usual car respray. It's too expensive, and I want to try some ideas I have. I will probably repaint it into satin black or satin dark grey, and give some strong colors to details.

I found out about military paint. From what I see, it would be perfect for this application, as it is satin or matt, and it is applied by roller or brush. Perfect for me. It seems to be often used in the UK (mostly for defenders and similar real offroaders), so I'm hopping that somebody can give some more info on this.

First, it looks terrible even if you mask it properly, and put some effort into brushing it on properly.

Second, at £20 a litre it's no cheaper than a basic automotive paint.

Third, it looks terrible.
