Excellent. We have an admin on board to give this meet the recognition it deserves. I'm made up!!!  Broocie (Hotel21) how about ya big man? You gotta attend the noo? Let that big old toybox of the leash. Not too far & we'd all love to see you & the new motor. You can even take the Beastie for a squirt thru the twisties & don't forget my curry. C'mon B you know you wanna.
Get your names down folks, more people, more fun & cheaper.
Anyone who can't make the whole weekend will be welcome to visit for the day, just drive in, you can't miss us. :y

I hope so Mark, same as i hope Jaimie can make it too & any other admins even if only for a day visit. You all knock yourselves out to keep the forum going so on that premise are kind of duty bound to show up @ what is becoming a major OOF event.
Before anyone gets a playful dig in about me grovelling to admins look at some of my previous posts, i sail close to the wind at times. All i'm doing is crusading this meet as a major event on the OOF calender & pleased to see it's working. Not to forget new members who are equally as welcome. We were all new once. :y

It would probably be for just the one night and would also require a visit to teh railway museum with Junior.....

But that should be more than enough to sink a few jars  ;D :D :D

If we had electric then I could of brought the spare plasma and the Wii!

Are we going to re-introduce the OOF footie match, seeing as it looks like there is a footie pitch onsite  ;)

Though with my fitness levels, best keep St Johns on standby with the oxygen  :-[

Have we got any idea of prices, with hook up yet? Coming anyway, just would help with budgeting.

Also are people going on the Friday night, with it being a Bank holiday, or the Saturday, daughter and I looking forward to it.. :y

I'm still thinking of doing a day trip up to see you guys... Probably be the Sunday :-/ :-/ :-/

I think Johnnycboy and I may well come up in the one car for the day. Depends how knackered I am after Friday Night/Saturday Morning. I've got to be out somewhere on the Friday night and then have the in-Laws at Gatwick (near enough 2 hours away)  for something stupid like 4am!

I did, but as Guy & I said recently, it wasn't much. I reaaly can't remember how much though ... £10/£15? for the two nights. If we use the club house this year though it'll be a bit more again. As Guy said the other day, the cost will be spit between those that go, so the more that go, the cheaper it'll get.  :y

I have had a PM from Ian who has arranged the site etc...

He has told me that it will be around £20 for the weekend which I think is a great price.
Yes 1st - 4th May so not long now.

We will be having our little tent up in the garden or the house apparently to have a practice camping night  ;D

You'll have to get in touch with Ian_D re hook up, but as far as I know, the official site that has hook up is seperate from the bloke Ian has organised the field with. What do people require electric for? We would have access to the club house complete with mains if we really needed electric for boiling kettles or charging laptops phones etc. I would imagine that if the coming meet is anything like last year we'll spend most of the time in & around the gazeebo that Ian brought last year.
There's a fridge the club house to if needed.

Too far from the Club House to plug in where we'll be pitched.

Have a look here .... http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1222548731/all

The Club House is just out of shot to the left on the photo of AmigoMV6/Guy & Mrs Andy B

As said. You need to talk to Ian_D re electric as AFAIAW the caravan site is a seperate concern from the field where we'll be.

Hi folks!

Sorry I’ve almost abandoned this for a few weeks, I’ve been flying round like a blue .... ;D

Price wise, were looking at around £20 for the weekend (2 nights) and a little bit more if you’re stopping longer.

As for electric... so we NEED it then? I will be taking a 4kw genny down anyway, and I will just leave the key in it, so if you need power, help yourself and start her up! (Just help me out on fuel – its unleaded!) ;D

Other option I did think was if a few of us take LONG extension leads (i have a 25 meter one) and we could always plug it in inside the pavilion!  :-X (Shuuush!) - It will be fine providing we don’t all stick the kettle on at the same time!  ;D

Event times... The area is available for people to pitch up on anytime Friday till Monday. Downside is I CANNOT get Friday off work  :'( (I am still working on it though, but its not looking likely) So I will be down around 6:00 - 6:30 pm

As for kettles, all campers should know that domestic kettles are a No-No, with most sites providing 6A, some newer ones 10A ;)

Use a gas kettle.  I can get away without leccy, I'm sure everyone else can to - its only a weekend.  I will have to use the inverter to blow up my airbed though ;D

Iirc TB all UK sites, unless stated, provide 16A, European sites, like france, belguim etc provide 6A. You are correct that domestic kettles are to high unless you use a low wattage kettle like 750 watts which is perfectly ok to use at a UK site. Anything higher than 1000 watts you need to be carefull that you don't overload the circuit as it can be tripped out. I only know that because my father has been using UK site's for the past 4 years and also goes abroad three times a year as well.
Not trying to put anyones nose out of joint or anything but this is what I have been told, plus the sites I have been to as well have all been providing 16A.

I will now Publicly appologise to Mr TB who is correct, so am I, stating that most sites are 6A or 10A. In my defense though I was referring to Caravan Club Sites which are/can be 16A.

Once again I do appologise to Mr TB.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Paul :y

Please don't drop my post count please :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I'll take notice next time we're on a CC site. I could've sworn they were mostly 10A  ;) ;)
Anyway ...... I'm sure you can manage a long week end on your battery. SWMBO flattened ours last year watching the dancing thing & crap-factor, the picture went first but it kept the sound   :-? I thought she'd broken it!  ;)   ;)  ;)

Some sites are still 5 amp.  The site where our static is on will have problems this easter, again, particularly if it is cold. All the tourers come on and put on loads of electric stuff and it has blown the whole site :( Reminds me, must fix the genny before the weekend.

I have had a PM from Ian who has arranged the site etc...

He has told me that it will be around £20 for the weekend which I think is a great price.
Yes 1st - 4th May so not long now.

We will be having our little tent up in the garden or the house apparently to have a practice camping night  ;D

I thought you had some huge great big TENT, or am I getting you mixed up with someone else. ::) ::)
£20.00 for the weekend sounds great, am happy to pay extra for Hook Up :)
Campers all insured and my Dad tells me it will be fully serviced and prepared, I wonder if he will fill the tank up :y :y :y

Pretty sure Vamps if you have electric hook up you will be on hardstanding which is away from the rest of the group :y

Is any advance payment required or do we sort it out when we're there?

Also, is any work on cars being done...I desperately need my cambelt doing?

Cheers guys and look forward to seeing you all.  :y

Just a quick thought...

There has been a bit of interest in members wanting to attend on thursday...

If a few members are going down on thurs, I could extend the meet to Thurs-Mon, and it would actually make it easier for me setting up since I cant get Friday off work (It gives me Thurs evening then which works out handy!). The only thing I need to know is would there be someone onsite to keep an eye on any equipment left thurs night / friday until I get there...

Then I would have to leave you at say 10:30ish pm, and wouldnt be back till 6:30ish pm Friday...

Thats no problem Ian :y  Just to let you know though I will be in the caravan and pitching up near the electric hook ups as it's going to be needed for hot water tohave a shower if the shower block is full. So if you need to leave valubles as in tools extra then you can leave them with me and Nick as we will be there about 6.30ish.

Righto!

But if you only need electric hookup for showers etc, then your welcome to use the genny... will be cheaper than staying on the offical campsite!

I've tried phoning the bloke a few times to ask him about availability on the powered sites, but hes not answered his phone (only got a landline number for him) - I will try ringing him throughout the week. :y

Nick contacted him the other day to ask if it would be ok to arrive on the Thursday evening and he said yes to that and would cost us £8 extra for the extra night, Nick did tell him we were part of OOF as for the electric  believe the power units are by the pavillian (just a guess) opposite the little park, so we wouldn't be a million miles away. The reason that we are both going to be there is for the hook up due to limited usage of the things that will be being taken, ie laptop, internall lights (only have one internal the rest are 240v) heater for the hot water etc so wouldn't want to use your genny for that, but also thinking of bringing the car polisher as well if anyone wants there car doing the genny could be used for that.

Reading Ian_D's post above, the implication is the pitches with power are not part of this site, and need to be booked through someone else??

I don’t mind people using the genny... not a problem at all, and its 4kw, so will do water heaters fine!

Hook-ups are a different part of the site, which need to be ordered separately. Hence why I am trying to get hold of the bloke. The telephone number on the Rufforth Playing Fields website which is floating about on here is not the bloke who i'm organising this meet with. The telephone number on the website is for Rufforth Post Office, who take bookings for individuals in caravans (no idea how much info they know about this OOF meet, they may not even be aware of it!) Last time I phoned them they didn’t want to know since I wasn’t a caravan club member! That was for the Rufforth meet last year, and I haven’t spoken to them since as they were useless!

Entwood would love to be able to offer that service .. but due to prior committments cannot make York meet ... :(

The "fee" for using the shower was carefully calculated .. an comprised 3 parts ....

1. Empty waste container
2. Fill fresh water container
3. Provide 1 can John Smiths for every 5 minutes showering time per person, max of 2 at a time ... :)

As far as I know it has a heater element in the water tank under the front seat. I do have a switch in the cupboard for the water heater. The van I have is a 2004 model, had it about a year now.

As far as I know it has a heater element in the water tank under the front seat. I do have a switch in the cupboard for the water heater. The van I have is a 2004 model, had it about a year now.

Paul :y

I'd be very surprised if you don't have a gas water option .. what make /model of 'van and I'll do some research .. :)

Do you have a rectangular-ish removable cover on the outside of your 'van opposite where your water heater is. If so, that's your flue for the gas bit!  :y

This may sound a daft question which as you all know is not like me ::)

But are there any showers at the York Meet? Toilets? :-[

Yes mate, there is...

BUT

The showers are in the same room as the blokes bogs, and they are NOT divided in anyway, so anyone who’s having a shower maybe interrupted at any time! For example the sink is a couple of feet away from the shower heads!  :o

The showers are part of the pavilion, and cricket players will probably use them on Saturday I guess! (Unless there’s others that I’m not aware of.)

Apart from that, the facilities aren’t that bad. Especially since we will have access to the room upstairs which has a fully working kitchen etc! (Apart from Saturday since the cricket lot will be up their till tea time I guess)

Right folks...

Just been down to see the bloke, and he’s happy for anyone to go down Thursday night if the want to. I will be down there Thursday evening about 6:30-7:00 ish. (However I wont be staying over Thursday night!)

If anyone has any questions etc, send me a PM.

Aim to get prices this evening. Price will depend on how many nights your stopping, and a tiny amount of the money will be put aside for petrol for the genny (to provide lights, music, and power for tools / caravans etc) and a donation to the scout group who I’m borrowing the big tents + trailer from!  :y

Nick, I will send you a PM later regarding caravan hookups etc...

Slightly later 'van, but I reckon that's the gas flue for the water heater on picture 5 towards the front, just behind the water pump inlet. No idea of the controls though. We'll all meet for a beer or 3 in your 'van & have a look!  ;D  ;D  ;D

That is the same as my van, the flue that you can see is the gas flue but for the gas, iirc the water heater is controlled by the electric but I will go and check the hand books.

Prices for Rufforth

At last! Prices are as follows:

Day Only:  Voluntary Contribution
One Night: £8.00
Two Nights: £15.00
Three Nights: £20.00
Four Nights: £24.00

These prices will cover (I hope!) the use of the sites facilities, pavilion room / kitchen hire, camping fees and a little bit of fuel for the genny. A small donation will also be going to the scouts group for letting us borrow their equipment (Think this fair, especially since I’ve got nothing to do with scouts myself!)

The above fees are on a ‘per car’ basis. Caravans wanting to pitch up on the hard standing with a hookup will be subjected to an additional charge – as of yet I’m not 100% sure what this is, would guess a few quid per night. The grounds man doesn’t know yet about the availability – he says we should basically play this by ear, but you will be catered for one way or another!

Payment – Either pay pal or debit/credit card anytime before the meet or Cash on the weekend. Payment in advance would aid the cashflow and planning for this event, but it’s not essential! Click here to pay ==> http://www.ijdonline.co.uk/oof/rufforth09

Any questions, suggestions or requests PM me!

If anyone needs me, my mobile number is below:

Thanks

Also, as for deadlines.... there isn't one!  ;D Anytime before the meet ends basically!

If you turn up at 1:00am on Sunday night (ok you will have missed most of the meet) you would still be welcome! You could even still pitch a tent and camp in it!  ;D

We have to BBQ somehow. I've got a small fold out & a disposable. We could get a few more maybe?
I seem to remember a gas burner in the gazebo last year which i boiled the rice on, & some of us can fry BBQ food in caravans so bring burgers, bread rolls etc & we'll manage. There is a kitchen in the pavillion as well. :y

I'll have my (large) gas bbq there for the weekend that folks are welcome to use. Must remember to get some gas on the way there!

I'll also have my Halfords trade card if anyone is needing anything over the weekend
