2.2 petrol hesitant cold, fine when hot

My son Ben's car. Recently passed MOT,  engine light had been on, MOT man put his tester on it, it said cam sensor, he switched it off. Light came back on again. I bought genuine Vx cam sensor from Bellinger Grove, storeman said special price because it has been put on another car then removed again. Part no. 90520850. Son now complains car worse than before, starts from cold, will give little power, when warm it is fine. After six hours parked it starts fine and runs well straight away, and goes on doing so.

In June I changed cam cover gaskets (oli in plug holes), cleaned breathers, changed plugs. Did not change coil pack.

Coil pack? Crank sensor?

Please advise.

Can you put a code reader on it?

Crank sensor is practically bullet proof on 4 pots.

Can always visually inspect coil pack for damage  :y
