That’s for porsche calipers, I’ve had the 18z calipers on but stupidly sold them and the price has gone up to buy more so looking for a cheaper option

Well the Saab guys fit them to the 9-3 and 9-5, I’m pretty sure the Saab 314mm brakes fit the Omega fine so I’m assuming the vxr brakes fit aswell!

I did see a pic of the vxr brakes under a 17” rim and it’s bloody tight, don’t think I’d do it myself.

Good prices, how much do you all pay for fitting the kit?

General Car Chat / Re: xl tyres
« on: 22 May 2017, 11:52:38 »
Apparently the budget tyres don't bother to make 2 variants of normal and xl so just make xl, don't think it'll do any harm but be aware you should have the same rating on both sides of 1 axle

Ahhh yes not the nicest car in the world, we had one as a works hire car and drove it like a hire car. I assume it used a cvt gearbox as it's always driving and always slipping, I hated the way you floor it and the engine pins itself at full revs while goin slightly faster but making way more noise.

Why can't they all be like the tesla models hehe

Very much doubt there is any way from the engine bay. I think the aa and thieves bent the top half of the drivers door open just enough to either unlock the door or press the key fob with a stick maybe?

It's a pretty easy job but don't try lifting that gearbox, I'd say a transmission jack is vital.

Omega General Help / V6 misfire possible multi ram issue?
« on: 28 March 2017, 18:00:22 »
I've been having a small misfire that comes and goes, mostly at low revs like 2k or less and on the odd occasion put the warning light on for a sec.

Well yesterday I fitted my spare coil pack with new leads, did the plugs last week. The old coil pack was split and little rust coming out so must have been screwing up, test run proved better but a cold start after work it still has a slight misfire while cold and I'm not sure if it's pulling up hills in low revs the same everytime.
One hill it'll do 5th gear up a hill and hold speed but another time lose speed when I don't expect to.

Now I know there's the valve on the intake and one at back of plenum but when should the operate and how do I test them? I've been searching for ages but didn't find much?

Thanks

General Car Chat / Re: Bore damage. Game over for BMW?

All well just put the piston to tdc and use a torch, there should be a tiny bit of play and give you enough clearance to see if there's anything still there?

Taking the piston out isn't really an option  :-[

I don't know how big of a deal it is to remove on your car but usually just drop the sump and undo the 2 big end Conrod bolts and out it comes?

Looks like something has been trapped between piston on top ring whilst running, unless it's majorly scored (depth), I'd just use some 2k grit wet and dry to smooth it off.

But I'd say take the piston out to inspect and clean before doin any of that, if the foreign body is still there it'll get way worse.

Hope you've caught it before to much damage is done.

General Car Chat / Re: Any sorento owners?
« on: 06 March 2017, 11:57:58 »
So came home with a sorento on Sunday, 56 reg 51k miles fsh and all silver not the usual 2 tone. Has leather and climate control, cruise control which I'm very glad of as the throttle pedal is a hard position to hold your foot in on a long drive.

Came back from getting it in Yorkshire yesterday so 320 miles covered and estimated 450 miles total in the tank so not to bad but guess it'll be a lot worse in town.

Time to crack on and sell the omega now :(
