car insurance (lies)
« on: 24 June 2023, 13:57:24 »

3 days early morning ish i was involved in an accident . my car was a writeoff. after ringing my insurance & the AA to get recoveryn of both vehiclesn I was told because of the location of both vehicles the police would have to arrange to get them moved. on my insurance I had paid for a courtesy car but was told that if my car was deemed to be a writeoff coutesy cars are not given to the policy holder.anyway i have bought a car, pick up 1pm Monday so I require to insuree it . Used the insurance search web sites & most had prices ranging from £385 - £570 plus a  few that were stupid quotes. I never hid the fact of the accident. My insurance was with Aviva & except for an accident line the telephone is obsolete. .online only.
however i submitted to Aviva another insurance application to start from Monday & for a quote & they came back with £1,579. i have had car insurance plus commercial vehicle cover since the late 1960,s  & never made a claim or had a claim against me. talk about sick as a parrot.  its paying for a courtesy thats got me riled , nothing is explaind when the box is ticked.

Courtesy cars are for whilst yours is being repaired.  Once its deemed a write off, its not longer being repaired, so no courtesy car....

If you had legal protection cover AND IF it wasn't your fault ...
you can put in a claim for "un-insured loses"
like a hire car till a replacement car can be found

And companies such as Cheif Vehicle Rentals exist for this very purpose. But it is a form of credit purchase for the ability to pay and claim.

or the small claims court which can be very effective at moving an insurer along... ( or better still take action against the other driver if they have a few quid,  up to them to pass it to their insurer and if they faff - judgement in default)
